MTV Truelife: Steroids. What did you Think?

MTV Truelife: Steriods aired again the other night and it got me thinking about the whole subject. I started thinking about its earliest mainstream induction (Arnold’s era) vs. today’s era (Ronnie’s era) and it triggered some pros and cons. I feel that steroids should be allowed in bodybuilding, but the playing field needs to be leveled and just like with motorsports, the body (the machine) needs to be checked to verify that each competitor does not exceed a certain steroid dosage. It’s simply not fair that many great bodybuilders get ousted because they don’t want to use the drugs that the top competitors use. But here’s the other issue…
What’s make bodybuilders of Arnolds era different then bodybuilders of todays era is that most bodybuilders today use performance enhancers way above just steroids. Many use hgh (human growth hormone), synthol (animal fat), clomid, and many other substances. I’m really worried about the direction that bodybuilding is headed. I’m already not to particularly fond of “growth gut” and I especially hate seeing the wide waists of bodybuilders of today. I remember the days of Arnold and Frank Zane. The vaccum abs. Oh, how I miss those days. Bodybuilders keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. What is the limit, and what will they look like in tommorrow’s era. How long will they live.
Many IFBB Bodybuilder’s still sadly deny steroid allegations. Even the World Renowned Ronnie Coleman. I think it’s safe to say Ronnie is not natural. Many of these bodybuilders also stick to a no-cardio routine. They simply bulk and cut with fat burners. Many of which are illegal and dangerous and contain varients of speed and ephedra.
One of the guys profiled on the MTV Steroids Show was a “Tap Out” competitor, who trained for his first fight with steroids. This is illegal, against the rules, and I hope they stripped his title away after the MTV Show aired. I just think it’s such a pussy thing to do. If you’re such an athlete, why take an unfair advantage and train with steroids.
Then there was the guy who bought “steroids” from Mexico. As far as I’m concerned, that shit was probably cynthol. He became suicidal, all so that he could when some bitch ass dance club contest. Please forgive my language for those I’m offending, but I just hate seeing stuff like this.
Rather you agree with steroids, disagree with steroids, or use steroids is an individual decision. But for the most part, I feel they should stay in bodybuilding but be monitored. And they should definately stay out of main stream sports. (Football, Baseball, Soccer, etc.) When they start creeping into the main stream sports it forces all other players to get juiced, and that just isn’t right.
