How do I start?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

I really really want to make more progress. The only things I have been able to be consistent with is my dieting for weight loss, and 4mph walking and 6mph jogging during my 1 hour lunch breaks at work.

And that is great. It got me down from 190 to 177 in less than 3 months. So I am happy about that. I still don’t have a consistent way to measure body fat %. But I am not worried about that right now.

I have been trying to learn how to build muscle mass. I think I am an Mesomorph type. A sorely underdeveloped one.

But how to train? I read about suppliments all the time, heavy reps, etc. Is there a guide that will help me create a plan with actual Lbs for the weights and how many reps, when to do then, etc?

I read a lot of forum posts. Guess it’s time to post my own question on this.

The Start

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I have been counting calories at Calorie Count Plus for some time. But only recently have I become more motivated to stay on top of things. I have been counting for 10 weeks now and have lost about 10 Lbs. I am now at 180Lbs.

I still have fat loss goals. But would now like to start focus on building muscle. I am hoping this site will make the transition more understandable and more successful. As I find counting calories an easy way to lose fat during the time I had no muscle goals.

I will try to use the tools available here to keep losing fat to gain more definition. As well as my main goal to gain muscle mass. I hope to learn a lot and to stay focused.

And for starters, I will only be working out at home with some basic free weights. And for now I will be mostly NOT using any suppliments, and when I do, I will be using some Muscle Milk and Muscle Milk Light as a protein boost. I also only take a multivitamin as a general everyday suppliment to a normal diet.
