Blog Entry

May 28, 2009

Well it’s been 8 days since the gym where I work has closed down to refinish the basketball courts and I can already feel myself slipping back into the lazy lifestyle. For the last 2 years I was running two-a-days M,T,Th, and once a day Wed,Fri,Sat probably a bit on the excessive side I know, but high volume workouts just seem to work for me.
Since the work gym has been closed I haven’t even stepped foot into the afternoon gym that i have a membership with.  I could have made adjustments…gone heavier, less sets, or just cardio but I didn’t. Partly because I have an all or nothing attitude and partly because I haven’t taken time off from the gym in over 3 years. Even on vacation last sept, I picked a resort with a full gym..that you can bet your ass I used.
In the last 8 days, i haven’t felt the need to go the fast food route. I still stick to my 6-8 high protein, complex carb diet. That hasn’t been an issue. But I can already feel a change in the body and I’ve dropped 2lbs.

It’s been difficult to layoff completely from the gym, but i’m hoping a break will work to my advantage. I was honestly getting a little burnt out.

So with two full days looming until my return to the gym…all i can do is sit and wait. oh and work somewhere in there.

What and how often do you guys take time off?
