I need nutrition help…

August 24, 2009

trying to come up with 1200cal diet with 40% carbs 40% protein and 20% fats…is there a bb.com article or any other websites to help with this?

BACK AT IT!!!

March 27, 2009

OK…so tomorro is my first day back in the gym after a few weeks of nothing but needles and blood draws, x-rays and ct scans, pills and more pills…I must admit, I let it all take control of me but I’m not the type of person to let “anything” control me so I’m taking control of it!

I was working out consistently from December to March and I really felt like I was putting in alot of effort…my diet was right on…and I wasn’t seeing results like I expected.  The more effort I put in the less energy I had and the more tired I felt after my workouts and the next day…actually I “never” had energy and felt tired “all the time”.  I work weird hours so i attributed it to that for awhile, and to be honest, after watching a co-worker lose 30lbs in a month by taking Adipex I took her advice and went to my doctor to ask for some.  Not just for weight loss but also for the energy i was lacking.  My doctor said, “let’s check the thyroid first” and then, if your thyroid is normal after thirty days if you still want them we will look into it.  So that same day she called me and told me my TH4 levels were high and so I had hypothyroidism.  After the fact it explains 10 years of very low blood pressure (90/60), tiredness, weight gain, heart palpitations, etc.  Even so, I made her order another blood test to re-check it (i’m not a very trusting person lol) so she did and, again, same thing.

I started levothyroxine and hoped to be back to normal in a couple weeks…uh no…6 weeks on a low dose, then raise it if necessary after another 6 weeks, and this continues until ur TH4 levels are normal…so i’m not feeling any better and actually am now having more side effects than I started with ie: chest pain, muscle cramps, joint (especially knee) pain, tiredness, vertigo, weight gain (lol), etc…so as u can tell I’m not really happy right now but sticking with it because I know it will kick in eventually and level off to where I feel “NORMAL” which will be a change :)

Because of the chest pain, my doctor ordered a chest x-ray where they found a “nodular density” in my right lung which they followed up with a CT scan…they decided the “nodular density” was benign - however, they found another one which they will keep an eye on with another CT scan in 3 months.  I used to be a smoker so this worries me a little but not going to let it get me down.

Despite all the whining, I cannot take another day of letting all this control me and I am getting back on my supps and exercise program (today).  Not sure if I am ready physically, but mentally I am…and the mind has alot of control over the body so the body has no choice to comply ;) .  So for those of you who were asking…this is where I am and I appreciate all the kind words of support..thank u!

weak arms

January 15, 2009

looking for advice regarding my arms…delts, biceps specifically.  i’ve always had pretty strong legs but my arms are so extremely (embarrassingly) weak…not to mention a broken left clavicle a few years back which i think is also hampering my workouts with my left arm.  my question is..when lifting do you allow your weaker arm to catch up to your stronger arm…i feel like there’s no point in working my stronger arm until the weaker side gets stronger ?? also any suggestions on the best exercises to gain size in the delts and biceps…i’m getting a little discouraged on my arm days so any help is much appreciated
