The gun show continues its tour across the Internet………
CAMOBOOTY BABES GALLERY (scroll down)
As some of you may know, Camobooty graciously sponsored me by providing sportswear for my first fitness competition!! Since I had originally used "boot camp" style training to whip me into shape, I wanted my outfit to really pay homage to that.
Gina at Camobooty had these awesome words to say to me after I sent her the photo proofs from the competition:
"Awesome…we are so thankful that you followed through..you’d be amazed at how many people ask us to send them free products and then don’t send us pics or say anything again. So we’ve mostly stopped doing it and I am really glad we sent you your Camobooty. We’ll make a poster out of this as well…you look dynamite…let us know when the next competition is…I think you should wear the black and white next time!"
thanks Gina

Thanks Camobooty for such kind words and cool clothes! I love wearing my Camobooty tanktops to the gym, and I can’t wait to get my first Camobooty hoodie for the cold winter months!!

OK, I am seriously considering ordering my egg whites in bulk from egg whites international. I hate going to the grocery store and stocking up on the little pint jugs. I go through half a jug a day, sometimes more if I’m baking, and if I’m preparing food for the week, fuhgetaboutit!
So, earlier this week, I ordered groceries from Fresh Direct (to stock up specifically on egg whites). For those of you who don’t live in the city, you probably don’t realize that New Yorkers can’t just drive to the grocery store anytime, park in a parking lot (what’s that?) and fill up the car (what car?) with groceries, park it in the attached garage (what’s that?) and walk the groceries inside.
The whole order was based on the fact I needed to stock up on egg whites. Then, the order came last night, and no egg whites! Annoying!
On a great note, I did the best HIT this week. Spin class last night. Did it right after chest.
Today is a WELL DESERVED rest day to let my legs and chest RECOVER, REPAIR and BUILD. Oh, and I’m going tonight with friends to a really scary Haunted House on the Lower East Side. oooooh! That’s OK, if Jason or Freddy Krueger try anything funny, I’ll punch ’em out! lol.
Tomorrow is shoulders and arms!
Enjoy the rest of your week everyone!

To help keep me on track nutritionwise, I like to remind myself of the old adage "You are what you eat." Therefore, if you eat LEAN, STRIATED, MUSCULAR things, you will look LEAN, STRIATED and MUSCULAR. If you eat DOUGH, you will look like DOUGH!
Know how when you add water to rice, the grains absorb the water and go from hard to soft? Well, that is what your body does when it eats those carbs….just sucks them up, absorbs them, and gets all poofy. This is why carbs must be done in moderation, and ONLY whole grains will do. Otherwise, your body will become the poofball and won’t want to let go.
The reason I’m writing this is to re-motivate myself.
I’ve been cheating the past couple of weeks post-competition (some gobbling goblin came to my house and ate the rest of the cheat day Pepperidge Farms Cookies on her lunch break!). As a result, have managed to bury my bottom two abs under some "poof"… *wah boo* Now all I can see are the top two and the line of separation down the middle.
It kills me to admit this weakness, when I’ve been soo focused and disciplined for so many months, and since so many people have written to me admiring my dedication. However, I can take this as defeat or as a learning experience. I am so impressed how chickentuna (check our her progress pics) was not afraid to show people the results of eating badly. It really was an eye-opening and learning experience for me. Then, she gets back on track and comes back more ripped than ever! WWCTE baby! My new mantra (if you don’t know what I’m referring to, you’d better check out her website. hee).
Even though I was watching the bloat happen to my own body, I somehow could not snap out of the urge to eat things I knew I shouldn’t be eating!
So, I am no goddess and am not perfect, but…..I will nip this in the bud! And, since I am so new to this, I’ll chalk it up to a learning experience and will move forward and onward.
As a side note, this also may be why I was overtraining in the gym. Guilt for eating badly! This is never good.
So, it is time to buck up and hit the clean foods!! I was dragging my feet along the sides of the wagon and now its time to get all the way back on!!!! Let’s do this, mayn!!

This week I’ve had a "stitch" in my upper right abdominal/rib cage. Meaning, I get little twinges of pain every now and then in it, and sometimes it feels like it is right on my rib - like a cracked rib! Also, earlier this week, my kidneys were aching like crazy. And my right hamstring is sooo tight. From legs on Monday.
Today, I didn’t have any kidney pain, so now I’m wondering if it wasn’t kidney pain, but it was just soreness from doing back hyperextensions when I did back on Tuesday. And the stitch in my rib was from overdoing it on abdominals on Monday… or maybe when I was benching really heavy on Wednesday.
Anyway, I still did legs today, even with the tight hamstring. Did plyos rather than lifting to switch things up a bit - shock my body a bit, and also to try to warm up my muscles and loosen ‘em up. My ham feels a bit better, but I’m still stretching it every chance I get. Also worked abs today, even with the little twinge thing going on. I just focused on engaging the obliques and lower abs and used lighter weight/more reps to go easy on the tender part…
I tend to overdo things… It is the obsessive Virgo in me… Good thing tomorrow is a rest day. We’re going hiking upstate. The dog is going to love it!
The weird thing about these little injuries is that 4 weeks out from my first competition, I was hitting body parts 2x per week…for 4 weeks! And no injuries… But then again, all of that training resulted in huge leaps of progress and strength, so I’m lifting much heavier and pushing the limits more and more…
At any rate, I think it is time for me to switch things up–take a new approach for the next 4-6 weeks. Back to basics–boot camp training!!

My legs are sooooooooo sore! Sore, sore sore! Sorer than they have ever been! And now my back and shoulders are kicking in the soreness. OWWWWWWW. YAAAAY!!!!!
My right hamstring is really tight, due to Monday’s deadlifts and lying down leg curls. Probably from the walking lunges too. For some reason, walking lunges kill me every time. I’ve been stretching my hams like crazy, using runner’s stretches and yoga moves, and it helps, but that right one is still super TIGHT!! And because it’s pulling "in" a little, it is making my hip hurt. Pigeon pose in yoga is so good for that.
On a great note, my glutes feel like steel (underneath fat still, but improving!). I think I’m going to take some real, down-to-earth candid shots of my side view of my saddlebags for a before shot, because I’m knocking ‘em out baby! I really want to see the progress.
I feel like I’m eating too much. I’m eating clean foods, but sometimes not waiting 3 hours to eat again. I’m just so darn hungry all the freaking time! Especially before bed. NOT GOOD! I am thinking maybe I can alleviate this by eating a bigger breakfast?
I normally eat my steel cut oatmeal (2/3 c cooked), one scoop protein powder and 6-8 egg whites (all mixed up together) and a few berries for breakfast. I love it! But today I switched it up and went savory today.
Made a 1 c egg white omelette with 2 oz ground turkey, and red and green bell pepper in it. 2 slices ezekiel bread with a dab of Polaner All Fruit and 1/2 grapefruit. Delicious! This is a lot of food, but I feel within reason. I’d estimate the calories at around 550….
50 cal for the turkey
250 cal for the egg whites
30 cal for 1/2 grapefruit
160 cal for the 2 slices ezekiel bread
40 cal for dab of Polaner all Fruit
20 cal for the peppers
I’ll have to double check on nutritiondata.com or caloriecount.com, but I think I’m not too far off. So this is a big breakfast. A large chunk of my calorie budget for the day. I hope it staves off hunger until 10 a.m.
Last night I made Tom Venuto’s recipe for homemade protein bars. I made some even healthier substitutions, though. This is what I used: nine whole grain cereal (oats, spelt, millet, etc), protein powder, fresh mashed banana, skim milk, egg whites, dab of honey, natural cacao nibs, cinnamon. Threw into microwave safe square baking dish and cut into bars. Wrapped each in tinfoil for on-the-go snacks. You can cut them bigger for meal size bars. YUM!!! I ate one before bed, though. This is the problem with cooking at night. So, I turned a healthy snack into one that assisted my saddlebag development, rather than knocking it out. boo hoo!
Oh, and I did 40 min HIIT last night, then 5 min cool down! It was crazy sweaty, but awesome! Now that I’m not competing until April 2008, I didn’t do cardio this morning. Just took the dog on a nice leisurely stroll to the dog park so he could still get his exercise… Chest and triceps today!
