Another inch

June 11, 2008

Had to pop another hole in my belt this morning….

Progress continues, slow slow slow but continual, I’m happy with that.

School is beating the crap out of me, I can’t beleive this teacher wants soo much work for a 4 week term, then top it off with him using lots of class time to handle "administrative" B.S. like passing out paper and making sure we understand the syllabus… it’s 2008, email us the documents and TEACH during the class, what a novel concept that’s apparently lost on him. At least his lecture format doesn’t induce sleep or I’d be in trouble, 4 hours of class on top of an 8-9 hour work day plus 2 hours commuting to and from school… what a pain in the rear.

new progress pictures =/

June 4, 2008

so I forced myself to take new progress pictures this morning, I’m really not happy with the small amount of progress I have made in terms of my fatt loss….  I’m definately stronger, I think I even see an increase in some musculature… but whatever you need to get feedback so you can see what else needs to be done. Right now I know I need to do more cardio and clean up my eating. I’ve been pretty lax about my intake on the weekends, we’ll eat out, I’ll eat whatever I want..  and the cardio, well I’m being a little easy on myself because I’m super busy right now…. I’m taking a class that’s compressed into a 4 week term which mean huge workload…. also I’ve had some family obligations that I’ve allowed to trump cardio here and there… (I’ll skip cardio if it means I don’t have to skip my weightlifting).

So even though progress is slow, I’m not really upset, I still look better every day and I’m not in a big hurry to "finish" I’m enjoying my workouts and my healthier lifestyle.

changing it up yet again

May 27, 2008

I don’t know… the whole body workout was just kind of blah…. boring and redundant. I was just not enjoying it, I hit the leg press hard then the bench hard then everything else suffered cause I was pooped. So I’ve started a 3 day split..

Day one Chest/Delts/Tris

Day two Back/Biceps/Traps/Abs

Day three Legs

I’ve had good results with a similar split in the past.. hopefully this one will keep me interested. I like the idea of having a full 7 days of rest on a bodypart after hitting it with all I have…. I imagine I will stick with this split for a good amount of time and perhaps just change up some excercises occassionally to keep things happening.

Cardio will be performed on Tuesday and Thursday between lifting days, and I think I’ll add saturday for cardio as well, Legs being done on friday makes my body cry for cardio the next day, it’s cardio the next day or limping the day after that, I think cardio is the better option. I wish I would have done it this weekend instead I limped, all day Sunday and a bit on Monday too, but that’s ok I haven’t trained Calves directly in over a year, I am allowed to limp from it.

My wife is still going strong, her strength gains as a new lifter are impressive (they usually are for the untrained), and she’s almost got her stamina up enough to do effective cardio sessions, if she is even a little intense right now she can’t make it past 30 minutes but soon! she is showing no signs of giving up or slowing down, but I did have to remind her that her lack of "results" (scale weight reduction is her current meter, I’m working on fixing that) is likely do to the muscle she’s adding and the fact that her cardio sessions aren’t long enough yet… I’m lucky, she nodded in agreement and seems determined to push a little harder to get her cardio right.

Excitment!

May 8, 2008

My wife joined a gym yesterday! I’m completely stoked about this. She joined a different gym then the one I go to, because it will be cheaper (I get a special rate through work and my employer pickls up half of my dues). And I expect her to do like I do and go to the gym while our girls are at school, so that the gym doesn’t interfere with family time, so being memebers at different gyms isn’t going to interfere with anything as we should be working out at times when we can’t be together anyway.

Hopefully this decision will lead to better energy for her and a desire to eat better. I’m so excited I have to keep calming myself down so I don’t bombard her with too much "good advice". She is scheduled to spend a little time with a trainer today (15 minutes). Hopefuly he’ll get her on some sort of Circuit program… then when she’s ready I’ll help her develop a custom program.

The trainer she spoke with yesterday pretty much echoed everything Iv’e been telling her for months.. she isn’t eating enough, she needs to drink more water, and she needs to lift weights (the walking and cardio stuff isn’t enough). I felt a little validated as she told me that everything he said she kind of remembers me saying to her. I love my wife and I think she’s gorgeous regardless of her physique… but her self esteem is in the dumps and her energy is always so low that I know working out is going to be hugely positive on her life and in turn mine and our daughters as well. Hopefully she will even start feeling sexy again, this can be kind of tough for a mom of two but I have high hopes, especailly seeing how so many moms on here have come so far and feel so good about themselves.

As for me, I’m goign strong, doing 3 days of full body workout (M-W-F) that consists of

Leg Presses 2 x 12 (most recently 380Lbs)

Bench press 2 x 12 (135 LBS my bench is horrible, but I’m only out to do better then me so whatever!)

Lat Pulls 2 x 12 (120)

Shoulder presses 2 x 12 (85 LBS and it’s a huge struggle)

Curls, 2 x 12 (70)

Tricep skull crushers 2 x 12 (50 LBS)

followed by about 30 mins of cardio with a 1 hour cardio session on days between lifting (T-Th)

I Feel good and I’m still increasing my weights nearly every session so I definatley know I’m making progress but I’m not so sure I’m progressing 100% towards my goal I need to take some new pictures and and locate my fat caliper…. I have to stop guessing.

Ok enough of my ramblings

Pathetic time management skills lead to missed workouts

May 1, 2008

I worte a post but it errored out Grr, Arrgh!

Anyway missed some workouts no progress to report.

To document why I missed so many workouts at the end of April:

Monday: 2 hour going away lunch for boss who accepted a VP position at a different organization

Tuesday: Dentist appointment and made some car repairs

Wednesday: helped my irresponsible, terminally ill, and nearly homeless friend get a form notarized so he can get his birth certificate so he can apply for Medicaid SSI. Of course he didn’t have any valid ID so he couldn’t get the form notarized so we had to go to the MVD and get a duplicate of his license (which happened to be suspended so we had to instead get him a non driver’s license).. then back the Notary…. blammo 4 hours gone like nothing…..

you know what feels good?

April 17, 2008

Putting a new hole in your belt.

So I got tired of pulling my pants up all day and added a new hole to my work belt…  Always feels good.

I’ve still got about 4  holes left to use on my non-work belt, (cause I’ve had it alot longer) but I’ll get there soon enough. Progress will be slowing down for the next week/ week and half because of my new tattoo I don’t want to get it infected or accidentialy mess it up somehow  in the gym, so I’m not going to the gym for a bit. I will cut my cals down and see how I do. this is my new one: =)

The sickies are gone!

April 10, 2008

Ahh what a releif I’m not sick anymore. Well not sick enough to skip the gym. I changed up what I’m doing since taking the forced rest. I’ve decided that I’m going to focus in more clearly on the burning fat goal, at least for a little while. I’ve seen some result but not much considering how far I have to go. So instead of letting the fat drop gradually while I’m getting stronger and pushing up the weights I’m gonna just try and kill the fat for a bit. So I did a full body today followed by cardio. It was really tough doing 2 sets of 12 Vs. the 3 sets of 5 I had been doing. I suppose the lower carb level (not insanely low) might have helped too.

I posted some new Progress Pictures

April 9, 2008

My original Progress pictures were kind of guestimations.. I recycled some old progress pictures from when  Iwas at a similar weight awhile ago… I actually took some new current Progress Pictures and although the progress I have made doesn’t show too well in the pictures I can assure you there has been a good amount. My weight is down 10lbs and my pants are not tight like they were. So although I’m not exactly proud of the pictures, they are accurate and timely and I hope to be able to post some more showing even progress soon. I’m still sick and I haven’t worked out this week yet but I have kept my eating in check and dropped calories a bit to make up for the lack of working out.  I think I’m going to have to switch up my training a little to actually see more results quicker.. I like what I’m doing and I’m getting stronger but I really need to focus in on the fat loss goal. Strength will come as it comes…  so while I’m unable to work out I’m going to be looking for a new routine that is more applicable to a fat loss goal and I will start it as soon as I am able to.

I’m going to be in a magazine..

April 8, 2008

Ok not me, my tattoo artist is getting a spread in This month’s edition of Savage Magazine and they’ve included a picture of one of the tattoos he’s done for me.

My tattoo is the cukoo clock one it’s on my lower right forearm.

dang plague monkeys!

April 7, 2008

This weekend was a major bust, the eating was not too bad, a little infrequent but at least it was clean. Unfortunately Saturday I contracted some sort of sickenss from one of my two lovely plague monkeys (children). I have been hacking up nasty stuff and I’m congested and just plain wiped out. So the beggnining of this week will be spent resting now working out till I’m better. I will of course continue to eat well.
