last night

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Workout was great.  I felt stong going and felt great leaving.  Did 10 sets of parallel bar dips, 10 sets of incline hammer curls (30lb dumbbells) up from 25. Shoulder was cooperating for the most part.  Did minimal ab work.  Was suppossed to do lateral raises, but didn’t want to push my luck.  I need to spend some extra time on my right shoulder (sore one) I noticed I lift different on that shoulder when doing the hammer curls.  This has been the strongest I’ve felt in the gym in over 4 or 5 months, maybe I’m over my bad spell.  Till next blog, Bye.

Lower Body/back workout

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Since my shoulder is still 60% working, I decided lower body was getting full attention.  This is what I did:

Deadlifts 10 sets of 200lbs

seated leg presses 10 sets of 130 lbs   lowering 12-15"

seated leg extensions      I can max out the machine, but kept 3 sets of 180

seated leg press calf raises  3 sets of 10 @ 360

walking lunges 3 sets of 10 steps with 60 lb dumbbells.

Workout was hanging around 80%.  I hadn’t done deadlifts in awhile so I took it easy.  Everything was easy, I didn’t want to mess up my knee.  If I messed up my knee, then I would be totally screwed. Got a compliment on my wheels, which is cool.  Not sure how much genetics has to do with everything, but I have pretty good calves and whatever muscle is opposite the calves which makes my legs look thicker.  I’m still keeping around 2 miles per wk running for the cardio, just in case it jacks with my leg size.  My cardio is more like sprints 3 sets intense and then moderate. Till next blog, Bye.

May update

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Workouts are a challenge, weight maintaing around lower 190’s.  Shoulder is not happy at the moment.  Reduced lateral dumbbell raises to 10lbs, just to keep something going. Ran yesterday,  cycled three sprints and three jogs, really surprised about running with the extra 10lbs, not as bad as I was thinking.  This is about week 4 with the German Volume training workout.  I’ll keep the lower body workout , but switch to something that doesn’t jack with my shoulder, for the rest.  Till next blog, Bye.

Treadmill

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Did cardio for the first time in 3 or 4 months.  I missed my running.  My only trouble is finding a balance between gaining muscle and running it all off.  I would usually run between 4 & 5 miles.  This experiment,  I’ll keep the mileage around 2 and run once a week. Hummm,  sounds like a plan.  Till next blog, Bye.

Happy

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I’m really happy with my latest picture updates.  I seem to be getting somewhere.  Not used to the extra weight, but I know my abs are solid.  Still have a 4 pack here and there so i can’t complain.  Will keep my head down and keep going.

Till next blog, Bye.

Puddled around last night

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Not sure how much I got out of working out last night.  I was trying to find machines that didn’t destroy my shoulder.  My new plan, until I get past soreness every night is to lay off anything that messes with my shoulder.  Cardio is on the menu.  Till next blog, Bye.

Injuries to date

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Well let lets start with lower back surgery degenerative disk, strain rotator cuff left shoulder, bicep tendenitis left arm, now the right side — right shoulder what feels like bursitis, just happening now.  Argh.  Everything OK now except the new bursitis.  Both knees are Ok for now, also.  My new post workout plan is to drink my protein drink and ice the shoulder.  I may have to abandon the German volume training workout,  due to shoulder. Dips and chin ups are brutally painful at the moment.  I’m gonna see what I can do. I can always go back to running and blow off my quest for 200lbs for a little while.  I recently picked up some really sweet asics running shoes.  Hummmm.  Wheres my advil?  Till next blog, bye.

Learning curve

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Still on the learning curve with this bodybuilding deal.  Cut out running (which I miss) eating to gain weight good or bad weight I don’t really care.  I am learning what to eat to drop weight, just become a vegetarian.  Taking the protein shake at 3:00 pm and cassein whey after my workout and before bed.  Last nights workout was great,  did inclined hammers with the BIG 25lb dumbbells.  My arms are looking big, but 10 sets of 10 hammers was at my limit.  Shoulder is giving me grief. I was suppossed to do lateral lifts,  but had to go down to 10lbs and BREATH thru each lift. That would be the Breath thru the pain lift.  Didn’t do any ab work. Just want to grow up and be big one day.  Till next blog, Bye.

Review

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Still trucking along,  mirror seems to be ok.  Didn’t workout last night, just did some pushups and that was about it.  Waking up in the morning I feel like I way a ton.  I’m staying around 194 give or take a few pounds.  Tonight is arms and shoulders, I’ll be ready.  Today I’ll eat a better lunch and try to drink more water than I normally do.  Till next blog, bye.

German volume w/twist

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Did my usual workout but added the seated hammer machine for my upper back.  Not sore today, but last night I was beat when I left the gym.   Right pec is still at about 40%, so I was doing inclined flyes with 10 lb weights. Argh.  As a side note, I think its time to get a thicker pillow, sleeping on my side is getting painful for my shoulders.  Progress is going ok, eating alright, still not doing any cardio.  Mid and side section not to bad.  Till next blog, bye.
