Traveling for Work and Eating Clean… Help!

June 14, 2009

So, I got a new gig. It’s pretty high profile and requires a lot of travel. I am very concerned how this will effect my workouts and my clean diet. I have a good routine going right now and I do not want to mess up my progress. At this point I know I will be traveling consistently for the next two months but, I will never be in one place for longer than a week (I think).

I am looking for advice from my BB.com friends that are in similar situations. Your input is always appreciated!! Thank you!!

Eating Clean… Day 1

June 12, 2009

I’ve lost 30lbs since March with cardio and portion control. Then I hit a plateau and realized it was not working for me anymore. I reached out to several of my BB.com friends and got the same advice which is to start EATING CLEAN. So, this is my first day on that journey. I have also started drinking protein and taking more vitamins. I have only been lifting for two weeks and I can feel the difference. I am eager to see the changes after a month of clean eating!

So, wish me luck and keep me in your prayers! Thank you once again for the tremendous amount of support. BB.com is the best!

I need a diet…. PLEASE HELP!!

June 9, 2009

My workouts are going great. I’m in the gym 6 days a week. I do 1 hour of cardio and 1 hour of weight training. I try to do abs (which is my biggest problem area) everyday. My energy is up, I’m down 30lbs and I have another 30lbs to reach my short term weight loss goal. The scale has been at a stand still.  My struggle is the diet. I’ve been doing portion control but, I have not really switched the type of foods I’m eating. I’m certain I need a change, I’m just not sure where to start.

So, I’m asking you all for help!!! I need a diet that will help with fat loss and contribute to building lean muscle mass. Thank you!!

Shoulders… Ugh!

June 2, 2009

I had a great work out today with my brother. I did an hour of cardio, then crunches and he introduced me to shoulders! Boy was it painful! We used free weights and a machine. When I wanted to give up on my last set, he would tell me to think about my favorite BB.com profiles and he told me that you guys had to work just as hard!! He got 5 more reps after that, LOL!

We have been focusing on different body parts ever day. I can definitely tell that my energy has increased. When I started in March I could barely walk a mile and now I can do it in less than 10 minutes! I also used to be afraid of the Stairmaster, LOL! Now we are good friends. I have not been on the scale in weeks. I have noticed a difference in my jeans. I was a size 14 when I started this journey and now my size 10 jeans are loose in the waist!!

My major concern is my lower belly fat. I call it the Kangaroo Pouch :o ) I can see and feel a difference with the upper abs but, the lower abs are still squishy.  I try to incorporate some type of ab workout every day after my cardio and before I start lifting. I could definitely use some ideas to shrink that area. I’m starting to think it could be my diet. I’m not on a special plan, I just eat in moderation. Maybe I should start there with changes??

I am hoping to gain the courage to post more revealing progress pictures. Everyone on this site has been amazing with their advice and encouragement. It really keeps me focused and I am so thankful!

Fine & Funky…

May 29, 2009

There is this guy at the gym who I’ve given the nickname "Fine & Funky". He looks like he could be a model, great body, and very committed to his workouts. Unfortunately, he’s not committed to his personal hygiene.  We are at the gym at the same time each day and any time he is in the area, or he walks past or is using a machine next to me I am disgusted. The smell is so offensive I have to walk away.  He moves from machine to machine, not even taking the time to clean them off. I can only imagine the germs he is leaving behind.  Part of the problem is he wears the same gym clothes every day. Some days he’s even missing socks! I often wonder if he can smell himself or not.  A few other ladies at the gym call him “Pigpen” who is a character from Charlie Brown. It surprises me because he is in medical school.  Maybe they have not reached the lesson on cleanliness. By far he is the worst culprit but, there are others who seriously deserve a “stank citation”.   I completely understand being a little ripe after a workout but, to show up to the gym and smell foul is just WRONG.  I even understand that everyone’s level of body odor is different. What I don’t understand is why these people can’t freshen up prior to using the equipment.
This leads me to ask, what is the appropriate gym etiquette when it comes to hygiene and using the equipment?
