An old issue of MuscleMag International had a feature on Dr. C.F. Smith, old school bodybuilder from back in the day. It was in one of the single-digit issues.
Anyway, Smith stated his opinion that calories are calories and that he could build muscle on Coke and burgers just as easily as "healthy" foods.
Consistent lifting and cardio, I’m betting, can make up for a bit of "sabotage" in your diet.
"What the hell do I know?" applies, of course.

It’s hard but try not to keep "naughty" foods in your house. That always works for me….plus I allow myself treats in small amounts. Portion control is key!

Ya’ll are both correct and very much appreciated. Vinny

I’m definitely the same… I’ll be good for a few days and slip. Hang in there, my friend, and if there’s a slip just be conscious of it but move on… keep your head up

I got to my lowest feelings this week. I feel like I am always tired, bad headaches which I never get, and sortness of breath. I workout alot but I have come to realize that I am hurting and killing myself with the way I eat. Time to take action!!!!!!!!

Vin - this is such a challenge… for many of us…I am a stress, late night eater…. and have issues with p.butter
i try to look at each day like I am stringing a necklace (not so manly I realize), but each day of clean eating I visualize a pearl that I am putting on. After many wonderful days….(which takes patience and perserverance) my necklace will be complete. Change what you know you have to…and if you slip, own it and move on to a better tomorrow!!!

Jul-This is the best response to any of my blogs yet and I appreciate you taking the time to encourage me. Today I started at http://fittracker.shapefit.com/ to log all of my workouts and eating. On a funny note, I think I won’t think of pearls because I wouldn’t look very manly wearing them. I will settle for millimeters as 1 clean eating day will wash away 1 Mmm of fat. Thank you

Well the last 4 days have been good with the eating. I actually don’t have the cravings. To top it off I have been having some really good cardio sessions and some good high rep lifting session. I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for being my first comment Vinny! I have never been in the military, but have many family members who have. Thanks for the comment, but more importantly, thanks for serving our country every day. I look forward to checking in on your progress and I hope you do the same with mine.

I’m so glad that you posted this - I didn’t realize that I wasn’t the only one. Now, reading the responses has inspired me to keep it clean until I hit that goal! Thank-you.

I would bet there are many out there that do this to themselves and that is why I started this blog so that we can motivate one another not to give up.
