Military Ties. Who has them?
I havn’t seen a blog on here with this topic so I thought I would strat one. I myself spent 8 years in the Marines as a Non-Commissioned officer in the infantry. When I got older, they wouldn’t give me an age waiver to Commission so I went into the Air Force. The biggest reason I did this is because as a Marine, we had Navy Corpsmen stationed with our units that took care of us in battle. I was taken care of one time when I should have died and I didn’t due to a Corpsman and his quick actions. So now, I specialize in all types of Trauma from Traumatic Brain Injury on down so I felt it was my time to treat and save the troops. I was able to do that numerous times in my tours in Iraq.
So I ask, who here is, was, or has a loved one in the military and please share your story. I know this may be off topic, but I feel it is a good one. Vinny

I’m retired Navy. spent 20 years in, retired in 2005. Served on Submarines, and had a great time doing it. I really miss it sometimes. My weight problem prevented me from advancing and staying in longer. I wish I had conquered it much earlier.

Jeff,
Thank you. I hope the administrators will not be upset with my off topic subject. But just in case, lets ad a twist. Has anybody learned any different ways of exercise or excerises from a military person. I know for example, the Marines use Log Drills.

My ex husband was a marine and we lived on Camp Pendleton for 8 years. While I lived there and lived the life of a Marine Wife-my respect and admiration for the Corps grew and grew. (Although not my respect for the ex-but that’s another story LOL) My dad was in the navy during the Korean war and worked as a civilian for the government on submarines and their communications systems and I lived in Guam for a while-it was great! I have always loved the military and thank god for each and every soldier!

Have you seen some of the topics in blogs and forums in BodySpace? You have NOTHING to be concerned about, in my opinion. And especially as it’s military-related. I think BodySpace is very patriotic overall.
I’m a Navy veteran. Five years from 1983 to 1988 on a destroyer. Got out as an E-5 and was proud to have advanced at every opportunity. I was fortunate with the need for journalists when I went for E-4, but I also studied like hell to advance to E-5.
Wonderful blog and I commend you for returning the service provided by that Corpsman you mentioned. Good on you!

Hello! Thanks for the compliment! Thanks for all you did and are still doing for our country! May God bless you!
My Dad is a Vietnam vet and retired from the US Army. My husband is currently serving in the US Army as well. He’s already done a tour to Afghanistan, Iraq and Korea. He’s going back to Korea for another year at the end of the Summer… We might be able to tag along this time. If not my baby girl and I are going back to Tennessee to be with my family… Anyhow, thanks for the great post!
