Staying on track.

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Things continue to go well.  I’m so pleased with my results and with the growth I’ve seen in myself both physically and emotionally.  My last weigh-in/measure day was July 30.  My fat mass has gown down by 20 lbs and my lean mass has gone up by a 10 lbs.  I just need to continue staying on track with nutrition.  For now going to the gym is easy because I have my trainer to keep me accountable.  I know that eventually the day will come when I will need to be able to self motivate and get my butt to the gym all on my own.  I enjoy working out with my trainer and I savor the days that I can do that, because eventually I will have to do it on my own.  I’m hoping that the continued confidence I have found will help me in that area.  For now I keep plugging away and notice small changes every day, then look back at photos and realize the big changes that I have accomplished.

Going well.

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Ok well a month ago I was struggling and now I’m loving the progress I’m seeing.  I’m leaner, I’m firmer… I’m that much closer to reaching my goal!!!  Things are good, I’m back on track and it shows.

I was really psyched today when I did 110 lbs on the leg press machine!! WOOOHOOO!!  3 sets at that weight.  Leg curl machine I did 1.5 sets at 80 lbs and then dropped it down to 75 lbs.  My supermans and flys were stronger today, still a little difficult but I could definitely tell a difference.  I’m still only using 7.5 lbs on those exercises but that’s ok, I’d rather be able to do them well and do full sets with one weight than go up too fast and hurt myself.  Prone hamstring curls I went up to 45 lbs, and I did one legged squats with 12.5 lb dumbbells.

I’m doing it!!!

Struggling

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

I’m really struggling with what a slow process this is.  I’ve never been good with delayed gratification.  I saw such awesome and fast results in the first few weeks and now it’s slowing down and it’s very discouraging.  I feel defeated.

What a week.

Men, don’t read this if you don’t want to hear about women’s issues.

I’ve been so freaking bloated this week.  Usually this late in my cycle, and I’m not bloated at all.  I can’t understand why it’s different this month (it wasn’t last month and I was working out then as well).  I’ve been good with my diet, working out etc.  I’m supposed to weigh in and measure again on Friday but I told my trainer if I’m still this bloated we’re not measuring.  He said that was fair lol have I mentioned how much I love my trainer?  On top of that my back has been out of sorts.  I have scoliosis which has also given me sciatica and a small spot of arthritis, and apparently some exercise I’ve been doing has aggravated the sciatica.  We think it may be the squats on the Smith machine so we’re going to cut those our temporarily and see if that helps.  I hate the idea of not being able to do something, I want to be superwoman.  I’m very competetive with myself and I don’t like to admit any weaknesses.  Guess I’ll need to get over that huh? lol.  Well, if anyone out there has any suggestions on getting rid of water weight particularly while on your monthly cycle I would greatly appreciate it.

So proud of myself!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

First, I was so excited because after my workout Wednesday, where I did alot of ab work, I was so happy that my abs were sore yesterday!  I kept thinking, this is awesome - I’m getting abs!!!!  Silly, I know but hey whatever motivation works, right?

Today’s workout, I’m so proud of.  I did one legged squats today w/out the ball!  3 sets of 12 reps on each leg.  I also did lunges with the Smith machine - just the 45 lb bar -those were hard and almost had me in tears but I pushed through and got them done!  3 sets of 12 reps on each leg.  I also did an exercise where I laid stomach down on a bench, holding a 25lb dumb bell between my feet and then bending my legs at the knee up and down, again the usual 3 sets of 12 reps.  I did leg curls today on the machine and did 2 sets of 12 reps with 70 lbs and then did the last set with 75 lbs!  I also worked shoulders today doing a shoulder press with dumbbells (12.5 lbs first set and then 10 lbs the last set - only did 2 sets of those today as I was really tired).  Then did crunches on the ball - 3 sets, 18, 20, 20.  Oh, and I did the active arm exercise with the resistence band, hands facing out thumbs pointing down, raising the band up to the height my trainer had set, 3 sets of 12 reps.  I’m getting excited about measuring again on the 23rd.  And I’ve ordered a pyruvate fat burner just to help me reach my goal a little faster - we’ll see how that goes.  I’m always nervous to take supplements but this one should be fine.

I’m feeling really good and just so damned proud of myself!!!

Making Progress

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Did 45 min. on the elliptical today - climbed 3,096 feet did 11 laps, and kept my heart rate where it should be - go me!

Training today consisted of: pushups with a resistence band around me while I used the bar of the smith machine to do my pushups (3 sets of 12 reps), bent over rows with the ball, 17.5 lbs. 3 sets of 12 reps, Alternating pull downs 25 and 27.5 lbs 3 sets of 24 reps (12 on each side), alternating dumbbell press on the ball started out with 15 lbs then went down to 12.5 lbs 3 sets of 24 reps (12 on each side), skull crushers on the ball 10 lbs 3 sets of 12 reps, barbell curls standing on bosu ball, 15 lb barbell (I also used the resistence band first set did all with the resistence band, next 2 sets did half of the reps with the band), 3 sets of 12 reps.  On to abs - did reverse crunches with 10 lb ball 2 sets of 15 reps, and another ab exercise - on knees, fists on ball and roll forward then back - 2 sets first set 15 reps 2nd set 18 reps.

I feel really good!!

Today’s Workout

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Another great workout today.  Did legs and shoulders today.  One legged squats with the ball, ham string thrusts, leg curl machine (60 lbs, 3 sets of 12 reps), lateral lunges with 15 lbs dumbbells.  Superman exercises with dumbbells (7.5 lbs I think).  One other active arm exercise.  crunches with the exercise ball and a 4lb ball.  Trainer said guys were checking me out LOL… one of the other trainers clients wanted to know when she was going to be able to do the things I was doing.  That was nice, but I hope she really just focuses on herself rather than others.  The other trainers were very complimentary today.  I do love going to the gym, they’re a very friendly, supportive, encouraging group.

Great workout

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I had a great workout today, of course almost all of them are great.  My trainer does such a good job of giving me new things and challenging me.  Worked on arms and back today.  I did barbell curls (not sure how much weight was on there), half I had a band for extra resistence, then finished the sets w/out the band (3 sets of 12 reps).  I did the barbell curls on the bosu balance ball.  I did alternating rows balancing on the ball using the machine (again 3 sets of 12 reps), I did 3 sets of 12 -15 pushups on the last set I also used a band for extra resistence.  I did another exercise, at a pull down machine (I’m so sorry I still don’t have all the proper names of the equipment and exercises yet), but I alternated those and I can’t recall what weight I had on it.  3 sets of 12 reps.  I did skull crushers, 3 sets of 12 reps - first set was with 15 lbs, next 2 sets were with 10 lbs.  Prior to my strength training I did 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical.  I so enjoy working out -especially when the day goes as well as it did today.  Oh yeah I also did dumbbell presses on the ball 15 lbs, 3 sets of 12 reps.  I felt really strong today!

I’m going to have to ask my trainer for copies of my workouts so I can remember the names and weights of what I’m doing.
