Muay thai training and relearning to carve out old habits

October 26, 2009

Muay Thai training is going really well. I am enjoying the change in the fighting style. It seems to make more sense to me to fight in this way. It is offensive but focuses to make a strong defense while you are on the aggression, instead of leaving yourself open. my take, just an opinion/ observation.

I am used of attacking by force and intimidation, but what I like about this is that you have all that without opening yourself up, like I was saying.  Just a beginners take.  It feels good to train and have a new challenge too  :)

Oct 5th Activity Journal- Trail Run

October 6, 2009

7.8 miles on the mountain to city to trail and back, it was really awesome!  It is fun how trail running keeps it so interesting you have no idea how far you’ve gone.  All you know is that youare in a beautiful place and having a blast.  2-3 hours later you’re like, ohh, I should probably go back home?  lol.  Next time I am packing a lunch!

I have a Trek bike trailer that converts into a jogger stroller, my 9 yr old goes next to me on his bike and my 4 yr old goes in the trailer with ‘Churro’ the Chihuahua :)   it is a lot of fun and we always stop half way and get a treat or bring a snack.  This time we jogged into town, grabbed an black olive, tomato salad and someof those mini 100 calorie pack rice cakes and then hit the road!  We always backpack our camelback full of ice water and I take Advocare’s Excel Gels with me.  That’s our quality time!  have a great fitness week!

God’s Blessings, He’s back from Iraq

October 3, 2009

I try to keep my personal life as personal as possible.  But I wanted a place to have a little party for some exciting things that are going on outside of my exercise world.

#1- SemperFit84 is back from Iraq officially and I could not be more grateful to God that he’s on tierra firma and Life as i know it is GOOOOOOODDD.  Yeah!

#2- The Marine Corps’ Birthday is coming up soon and the Injured Marine Fund desperately need donations!  I personally know people who have really needed help since they came back and this fund helped them through some hard times.  If your heart is there with mine, please find even $10 to donate to our protectors in THEIR time of need.  www.semperfifund.org

#3-  I would love to help Nick Scott go to Walter Reed and meet the injured military memebers and help one;s that are now wheelchair bound with his amazing wheelchair fitness program!  If you are military let Nick know that you support him!  (he is on my "Inspired By" list!)

#4-  Update on me:  I moved and my parents were helping me transition to the new area, I have been shacking up with them and my mother is NOT supportive of my lifestyle, working out, being physical, etc.  It is used against me if I get tired or sore.  it is KILLING my morale. I haven;t been here much longer than a month or so, but I need to secure my own place ASAP!  I love it when family helps each other, but DANG.

#5-  My stomach is shrinking even more I can only eat little more than a saucer  of food now.  yeah!  Since I;ve been back to work, I have been able to eat more consistently every 2-3 hrs.  Also, i have a very physical job and I have dropped another pants size, which means my waist!!!!  woohoo!!  time to tape again.  yeah baby

Well, that is my "on-my-knees -hanking-God-for-all-my-blessings" LIF
E!   All I can ask for now is that things stay on this path.  :)

Negativity and the Gurus–My Micro Rant

September 30, 2009

I recently subscribed to this Facebook fan page for Fighter Diet.  I quickly remived it after reading a few of the posts.  I applaude the progress and what works for one person, sometimes should be mirored with tweaking for your personal body type/ goals etc.  But what;s with the negativity.  As, much as I like a good rant in moderation (LIKE, not everyday?)  I just think using words such as "stupid"  is just over the top and you could articulate in a better way.  Have I ever used the word stupid, sure, I am sure i have.  but, when someone says to the whole cyber world, "If you use this/ that, that is stupid.  it just makes me think….interesting.  Stupid, really?  How about just saying, if you are trying to acheive this certain goal, "such-and-such" product is not good for that because…..  Or I feel that it is a poorly munfactured product, that could be good if they didn’t ______ fill in the blank (heat, isolate, etc.)  This individual did state reasons, but I think it could have been done better.  There.  Nuf SAID

MY TIPS on Post-Workout Strategies, Soreness, and Lactic Acid Build-Up

September 7, 2009
I LOVE FEEDBACK! Be Nice and There’s no Worries~ Just be Constructive and not hateful….

MY TIPS on Post-Workout strategies, Soreness and Lactic Acid Build Up~

#1 Water- Lactic Acid build up in the Joints/ Muscle tissue create soreness.
#2 Sugar/ Glucose- Instantly feeds muscles post workout for recovery and repair, and that means growth!
#3- Oils- Flax and Fish oils are graet as supplements, you can measure how much you’re taking and they are also good for your brain and digestive tract, which plays into fighting the belly bulge! But more than that they are anti-oxidants and working out creates oxidation(think rust) in our cells and system, so Anti-oxidants help fight that!
#4- Protein- Protein taken within 1 hour of lifting helps bulk you and add muscle mass. Nuf Said.

<Thanks for the information. I’m somewhat trying to watch my sugar. Do you know of an alternate for sugar/glucose?>

Sure! Like I said, everyone ends up getting sugars during the day at some point, and if you are going to comsume some, why not take them in when they are going to be used up right away as muscle tissue repair, right? So, Most people will take a drink that contains Maltodextrin which is a form of glucose like, Gatorade, Powerade, or TwinLab’s UltraFuel. You’ll see plenty of articles on these types of supplements. But, do you really have to take something processed? No, definitely not. But what you might want to do then is take a regular food source that contains Maltodextrin and is a fast absorbing carb, that your blood will convert to use in muscle tissue repair, like Potatoes, Rice, Corn, Sweet Potatoes (yum) think starchy. I love “Arroz con Leche” which is rice pudding with cinnamon (also VERY good for your sugars and diabetics!), so that might be something I choose to eat and save it for post workout.

If you’re going to battle , it’s great to be armed right! Knowledge is POWER!

Feel free to message me anytime, I look forward to seeing your progress!

Ohh , I forgot . You can always take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen, or use Hot and cold ice packs on the area too! And don’t forget to warm-up , coodown, and stretch! A lot of guys don’t feel that it’s necessary and then BAM soreness.

(a few things from the original message were tweaked and or added a few words, to cover bases.  I know there are many good tips out there, so go Blog too!)

I;ve been wanting to start blogging for a while now, but things were really

17 April 09- Colon Hydrotherapy?

April 17, 2009

Yeah, I bet that got your attn.  Well, I just started this new gig and I am promoting in-home hydrotherapy devices and they ROCK, which is so cool.  I used to run a Spa that did these and it is really costly.  Either way, I know a lot of figure and bodybuilders would love these.   I know some dancers and models that swear by it and this makes it easy to do it discretely.  If anyone is interested send me a message.  My site is:

Other than that it is nice to see that I am helping inspire some friends along the way with my weight loss and getting back to healthy eating and living.   Phoenix is pretty nice as far as bicycles with I love to bike everywhere, but I live where it is further away from things, which makes it hard in the heat of the summer.  Soon, very, very soon…..

I am glad to see people joining the Raw Food group I started, check us out at BB’s Gone Raw!
