48 hours until Jamaica!!!

I’m 2 days away from leaving for Jamaica to celebrate my 40th birthday!!! Today is my last day at work (which of course, is booked) and my intention is to hit the gym hard tonight and tomorrow.  Thursday we fly out at 6 a.m. so I’ll be en route.

My intention for Jamaica is to nap as much as humanely possible!  I’m going to start swimming again while I’m done there to hit my lats extra.  I’ve got my supps and individual whey packets ready to go.  When I get back there will be no fooling around because I’ll be 4 weeks out *gulp*.

I just wanted to give a shout about suits you swimwear.  I just received my competition suit from them and it is FANTASTIC!  Their prices are great and the customer service was outstanding. I was really nervous because I’ve heard nightmare stories about other suit makers  but Clyde & Lucy were great professionals.  They always responded to my questions within hours and were very sweet and respectful.

My suit was shipped on the exact day promised and looked better than the picture.

I’m very proud of my accomplishment of reducing my body fat to 17%.  I’m also incredibly grateful for everyone in my life and on this site that gave me good feedback about the diet and some balance.

Competition prep is an intense lifestyle and  being that I’m just cutting my teeth with this one, it’s been important to have so many supporters.  I now have a better understanding of my body and this type of dieting.  I’m looking into doing a second show on November 1st, I believe that with this training and experience under my belt, it will be an even more powerful experience for me.

By the way, has anyone go onto Helium_Teapots website where she cooks high protein food~yummy! Thanks M for the Larb recipe!

Oh yeah!!! Dropped body fat to 17%!!!!

I got a talking to from my figure coach because my weight hadn’t really dropped BUT then she did my body fat and I was down to 17%~~~ROCK ON!!!

My posing session was excellent, I’ve got the feel for my lats.  She took my progress pics so I can use those to help me with my posing at home.

I feel good!!!

Suit and shoes are in the mail!!!!

I’m so excited I just got an email from  my suitmaker; my suit was shipped yesterday.  It’s awesome to have it this far out from competition so I can see how I look in it and what I need to work on.

I’ve been busting my ass this week with diet and training.  I’ve also been working on my posing and my walk.  I can finally feel my front flexed perfectly. I’m still trying to bring that swing to my hips a bit more in my walk though.

Today is an off day from lifting, I’m just teaching spin and abs.

Although I am a bit sore for the past two workouts, I’m up and in a good place this morning.  I’m slugging down my coffee, popping a burner and getting ready to grab the mountain bike and head out to the park before the kiddos wake.

I’ve been cutting way back on the calories the past couple of days and I’m digging how well my body responds.  I was at the gym last night and there is another trainer there who is training a woman for the same competition I’m in.  He told me that she was worried about me (as in I’m leaning out well!) :)   SCHWEET!

My suit and shoes should be in this week. I’ve got a session on friday with my figure coach and then, OH YEAH, almost time to leave for Jamaica!!!

Look out 40~ Here I come!

EEEW, I got reprimanded and in BOLD!

So, I sent an email to my coach and sort of fessed up that I wasn’t, well, exactly following the crazy calorie spiral and here’s the response…

"You have got to really suck it up right now and be extremely serious with those diet numbers! Manipulating water will make you feel better about how you look today…HOWEVER we are seriously trying to lose body fat here to peak you for the stage on Sept. 6th and bring true muscle cuts and lines in. That is no easy task for any woman. So consider yourself encouraged to get back on the strict diet track..OK?"

I’ve been served.  Time to put up or shut up since I’m getting the once over and posing training on Friday…doh!

Sunday training is what I call my trouble spot days. I hit hammies, glutes and lats; mostly isolation exercises and 2 serious rounds of cardio. 

In the words of fitforty…"Get Some".

Two weeks until I’m 40 (and lying on the beach in Jamaica)

This past week has sucked, I think I’m already mentally on vacation.  Seriously, every once in a while, I just hit a wall where I am so friggin tired.  On Thursday, I had to lie down twice because I just couldn’t keep going.  That’s unheard of for me, I only nap on vacation.  I took an unplanned rest day yesterday because every muscle, just seemed fatigued.

I’m up and I’m ready this morning.  I’m teaching spin at 10 a.m. although I’m a little concerned about attendance.  The university where I work is hosting the International Transplant Games and parking  has sucked, I only had 4 people on Thursday.

I’ve been working my hamstrings, glutes and lats twice a week.  I can’t believe how fast my back comes in; it’s crazy!

So what should I do for these last two weeks before Jamaica????? I need to cut down. I’ve been having some cheat meals, not hitting my supps completely and not eating 6 times a day.  If I plan, I do well. If I fly by the seat of my pants I choke.  So time to plan.

Increased muscle mass=greater metabolism? It’s has taken me 6 solid months of rock steady training and a pretty clean diet, but my machine is working!!!  After a psychological meltdown because my figure coach told me I needed to eat 1100 kcal/day and really eating poorly last week, I cleaned up my act (food wise).  Now, mind you, I’ve not varied my intensity or frequency of my work outs, just my food.  I’ve been fluctuating up between 126 and 130 YIKES! I knew this was water weight.  I hydrated, hydrated, hydrated and flushed as much of the crap out as I could.  123 yesterday!  Smart food, lots of water and dedication to the gym and even at 40 (in 17 days) I can bounce back!

Monday, July 7th, 2008

18 days until we leave for Jamaica.  I’m back on my 12/14/16 calorie cycle with no cheat until we leave.  My goal is to hit 122.

I’ve got my workouts planned out as well as my diet.  I will write out my workouts and my food for the week. I want to enjoy myself while we are away so I want to give myself a jump before we leave.

I had an awesome work out yesterday with my trainer.  We focused on isolating lats, deadlifts and split squats.  Why do I love the burn???? We were doing deadlifts and I suddenly realized that we had 5 guys standing around the platform watching me-what they’ve never seen a chic do deadlifts before?

Today is supposed to be my rest day but I promised to cover a sculpt/cardio class for someone.  I haven’t even put together a routine yet and it’s in a couple of hours, I really should put something together :)
