I find that people that you assume would be supportive aren't always that way, esp. if they themselves are not into lifting or even dieting. My own mother is throwing nasty shots at me about "how skinny" I am, and I still have a pretty good layer of fat on my waistline, being at around 14-15% BF. But then, mom is overweight and has been most of her adult life and I think resents anyone who loses weight because she has never done it herself. Maybe the person who gave the 10% remark to you is like that, out of shape/overweight and has never done anything about it? I have found that anything relating to health, dieting, BBing, etc. can be very polarizing with others, almost worse than religion or politics! Some will be tremendously supportive, others will throw shots and try to tear you down, and you often have no idea which way someone will go until the topic comes up.

For someone to say that 10% BF is not attainable is just plain out of the loop. Look around BodySpace and you can see lots of folks at 10% BF and below. Getting below 5% is pretty difficult, according to the various articles out there (on bb.com), the body needs 3%-5% fat to keep itself going, but 10% is very do-able, at least to look at others out there... haven't gotten there myself yet, but I am trying.

Being able to go at this BB stuff yourself is one of the big plusses for me... no one to rely on other than yourself.

Keep liftin'.

Fried foods... I live in the south where people would probably deep fry an already deep fried piece of chicken and then pour a little more grease on it for good measure...lol Once I got used to eating cleaner though, fried foods started making me feel a little sick when I ate them. Another thing that keeps me motivated is I feel like I bust my ass in the gym and would be erasing alot of my progress by eating junk.

As for eating too little/too much... a written plan does wonders. Anytime I've just winged it, I either go over my macros or under them by alot.

I know that I got here to get advice. Heck, who knows? Maybe meet new people, but if someone is bigger or more ripped than I am, it means that I can get to where they are. Best of luck Turbomike.
