Post-Thanksgiving Weigh In!

November 29, 2009

So….. After 9 days in Florida with my family, their cooking, and them telling me I have lost weight, they fatten me up by a solid 10 pounds.

In a matter of one week, I went from 126 to 136.  I’m sure most of it is water weight, but gosh!  I’m taking advantage of this by hopefully putting on some lean mass, but I didn’t even know that such a rapid gain was possible!

Thanksgiving weight gain

November 22, 2009

I am visiting family for Thansgiving, currently, and unfortunately, all they do is get fast food on weekends!  I feel like I’ve gained 5 lbs of fat in the past 2 days.  I’m going to be packing on the pounds this next week, so wish me luck as I lose everything I’ve worked for… Hopefully I can at least put on some muscle during this time!

workouts in karate

November 18, 2009

I thought this was really awesome– on Monday, after a 2 hour long intense karate class, my sensei had us drop to to pushups/crunches.  I’ve always been pretty good at them, but this day, I maxed out.  Instead of giving a defined number, he told us to go to exhaustion.  I didn’t count, but I know that I was still going strong when over half the class stopped, and by the time I was done, there were only 3 other people still going (all guys), and the rest of the class was out.  There are around 30 in the class, so it felt great to be able to endure more than they!  I love working out!

End of story.  If you didn’t like it, that’s ok, because it made me feel great!

Eating clean, workout support

November 14, 2009

I did a huge profile and picture update last night.  I’m happy with things right now, though my job is kinda crummy.  I am enjoying karate, and I’m able to make it through the class all the way, now.  I’m pushing myself as hard as I can with it, and I’ve seen outstanding improvements since I restarted in August.

As far as my anaerobic workouts go, I’m seeing gains in muscle size/strength, and I’m losing a lot of fat lately.  A lot of this has to do with me finally being able to cook exactly the way I want and need to, and being able to finally afford supplements such as creatine and protein (both started in my diet on the 12th) and just better food.  Thank goodness for a real job!  I also have the support of a coworker, a physical education teacher who is in bodybuilding condition, if he decided to pursue that.  I can talk food, workouts, and supplements with him, and he enjoys the fact that I’m into fitness, for once.

My bodyweight planche progressions is going well, and improving daily.  I hope to be able to complete a full planche by February, but we will see.  It’s very difficult, but I’m finally building up the strength in my shoulders and lower back to be able to handle it.  I can’t wait to post pictures of myself AFTER i’m able to do one!  I should be a beast (but in a feminine way!)!

For now, that’s all.  I’ll be updating much more frequently now that I have the means to eat clean and really do what I need to do to get in optimum shape!

update

November 3, 2009

I’ve been out for a while– my computer was stolen during a break-in, unfortunately, and I had to wait for a few paychecks to be able to buy another.  Thankfully, though, I’m back!  I’m working as a band director in Mississippi, at the moment, and I resumed karate classes about 3 months ago.  I’m physically doing well right now, and I’m meeting many of my fitness goals.  I have a long way to go, still, but I am making progress with both my fitness, physique, and flexibility!  I’ll update with pictures soon, I promise!

college graduation, planche progression, job prospects

May 9, 2009

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Music Education degree yesterday!  I’m very excited about this!

Also, I am getting stronger and am working on my planche.  This has been my goal for a while.  I want to be able to master my own body weight.  It’s really awesome knowing that I used to be able to only hold a frog stance for a few seconds, and now, I’m pretty comfortable with a tuck planche!  I am working to straighten my back out, but I can only hold that for a fraction of a second at most right now.  All in time, though!

I’ve applied for some jobs, but the one I want the most, I interviewed for last Monday.  I won’t know if I have it until the 18th at the latest, so I’ll update again in a week or so when I know about the job.  If I get it, I already have picked out a house I’m interested in.  This is the start to my new life!

p90x Week 2

January 29, 2009

I began week 2 of P90X today.  Woot!  I’m going to survive, after all.  It’s hard to find time to fit it in, especially since I work so late, have lessons to write, and I travel out of town so often, but I’m making it happen.  I won’t give up this time, and I’m already feeling the progress!  I’m not quite seeing too much yet, but it’s only been one full week, and these things take time!  I’m ready for it.  BRING IT!

P90X - trial 2

January 22, 2009

I said I was going to restart P90X on next Monday.  I decided to go ahead and start it today.  I felt the conditioning I’ve been doing the past few weeks was benefiting me tremendously, and I knew I was ready to begin.  Besides, Wednesdays are my busiest days of the week, so by starting today on a Thursday, my rest day will be Wednesday, allowing me to get all of my work and travels finished.  Today’s workout felt great, and I made it through the entire hour and a half without failing like I did the first time I started P90X.  I think my initial condition is much better this time than it was last time.

In other news, if I didn’t write about this last time, I’m doing my internship in music education at a middle and high school in Pensacola, FL.  I graduate from Troy in May with my Instrumental k-12 music ed degree, and I’m currently hunting for jobs.  Grad school is still an option, but my heart is in public education at the moment, so I think I’m going to start my career.  I can always go back to school later, but for now, I’m ready to teach!  I’ve applied in AL and GA so far, and my hopes are high for an opportunity to come knocking!

I’ll update more later– perhaps pictures in the next few weeks.
