Back in October of 2007, A friend and I decided to quit smoking together and to get back into shape. I weighed in at 248 and Chuck weighed in at 256, so weigh ins were almost the same. 10 months later, I saw Chuck yesterday and he looks great. Chuck has lost 40lbs, down to 216. I have lost about 25, down to around 223. Chuck has made incredible gains, whereas I have made ok to good gains. Chuck works out 2 - 3 hours before or after work, 4 to 5 days a week, and I work out 2 - 3 hours after work, 4 days a week. Chuck has continued with several supplements. Chuck works during the day and gets 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night. I work nights and sleep during the day, getting about 4 to 5 hours of sleep. My pocket book has gotten the best of me, and supplements are far in between right now (read previous blog).
Jealousy is setting in. I just have to work alot harder and try somehow to get back on some supplements. I am trying to eat better to compensate for no supplements. I know that working nights lowers ones lifespan and does crazy things to the body. I guess its time for a new job, after 14 years of nights.

I have been out of protein and creatine for almost a week now. I have 5 vitapaks left. I had to make the decesion last week ….. Gas for the car so I can go to work or supplements for the week? Gas won some how. Thank god that I get paid Friday, but its rent and car payment week. So supplements might be on hold again. Damn it!!!!!

This is for all the ladies, for the guys that are interested, and for my kids, family and myself.
Most of you already know, but for those that don’t know …. I quit smoking a month and a half ago (November 1st). The money I saved from not buying cigarettes, I got a gym memebership. I have been in the gym everyday for 2 hours or so. Sometimes twice a day. I am really proud of myself and here are some results everyone might be interested in:
Age at which I started smoking: 12 or 13 years old, quit for 3 months for Marine Corps boot camp.
Age at which I quit smoking: 38, at least 25 years of smoking
Day started gym/diet: November 2nd, 2007
Weight: 248lbs Goal: 200 -215lbs Height: 5’10’’
40 inch waist Goal: 34 -35 inch waist Chest: 42 inches Goal: 46+
Todays date: December 10th, 2007
Weight: 224
Height: 5’10’’
38 inch waist. Chest 43 inches
So as everyone can see, I counter acted the quitting smoking by hitting the gym, because I knew I would eat and get fatter. I have lost 2 inches around my waist, and as of today I have lost 20+ lbs. I am going for a body fat test next week. I am really feeling great and starting to look good.
I want to thank everyone that has helped and supported me thru these challanging times. If I can quit smoking, anyone can quit smoking. Everyone has stress in their lives, and thats not an excuse. I have used the gym to also help with my stress. It has been a great month and a half. And I am not stopping now. Call it a mid life crisis.
Look out ladies, here I come. Guys……well you have alot of catching up to do.
