Okay, i went to gym this morning. It was rough trying to get up. It is so cold and so dark and my bed begs me to stay. But i managed to ignore its deceptive ways. Stay in bed and stay a fatty or go to gym and get one step closer to your goal. So i did about 40 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of abs.
20 minutes on the elliptical trainer
20 minutes on the treadmill.
4 or 6 sets of 20 reps of swiss ball crunches
4 or 6 sets of 20 reps of weighted swiss ball crunches
My legs were bitching towards the end of the cardio, they still quite haven't forgiven me for Monday's workout. There are some very interesting characters at gym. I am sure that i will get around to mentioning most of the funniest. Today i was being irritated by the guy i like to call 'ballet'. Every morning he is there doing weights. Now i know you are thinking good but you really have to see this guy, he takes incredibly light weights i am doing like 3 kg (6 pounds) on a shoulder press. And it is 5 secs up and 5 secs down. I call him ballet because he looks so freaking feminine it irritates me. The only thing that i can think of is that this guy came across this article http://http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/29/from-geek-to-freak-how-i-gained-34-lbs-of-muscle-in-4-weeks/Now i understand the principles of hyptertrophy, yes nice and slow and feel the burn. But dammit, i did it for a while too and i was doing much more poundage, yes nice and slow and also for at least 10 reps, just like this guy is doing. GO HARD OR GO HOME. I understand slow days, but this guy seems to be having a slow year.
A quick question to everyone out there; maybe i should be asking this in the forum but i don't need too many responses any way. There is a product made in South Africa called ProNutro. It is a breakfast cereal/porridge. Almost every diet i have come across calls for oats. While i love oats they take some time to prepare, time i don't have because i get up at 05:40 go to gym and then go to work and eat at work. So I eat Whole Wheat ProNutro, there are other flavours but this one is the best. It is low GI and here is the macro breakdown
Energy 723 kJ/ 176 calories
Protein 8 grams
Carbs 30 grams (24 grams complex carbs)
Fat 2 grams
Dietary Fiber 13 grams
Now to me that is pretty good, and a suitable substitute for oats. Oh yes, i have it with 2% low fat milk.
Rant for the day: Why is it that fat people always wear tight clothing at gym? First of all, i applaud any overweight person doing something about it. I think it is incredible. Especially when they loose a tonne of fat. I find it so motiviating and realize that if i have only half of their dedication and resolve that i would be where i want to. After all, i only have to shed a few pounds for abs to come through. But when overweight people start they wear tight clothing. I know it is difficult to find clothing for overweight people, but i am not talking about t-shirts and pants, these people that i am talking about are wearing spandex. YES spandex. I can see every spec of their cellulite through it. Maybe it is just a South African thing, let me know.
