Now get this. Yesterday: 175 pounds. Had an awesome shoulder workout. Solo, but really pushed myself. Sweatin my butt off and pushin’ as hard as I could with no spot and no workout partner(s). Dumbbell shoulder press. Slow and controlled. Managed 65 pounds for 6.

Then someone said I need to do cardio. yeah right. Me and cardio don’t get along. I hate the bike, can’t running on the treadmill. So just up’d the intensity yesterday. Then did some ab work to: "Crazy" by Ayiesha Woods. Doing ab pikes to the beat. Fast beat. Try that one. When the abs start hurting, tilt to one side (resting on one butt cheek) and work that side of the abs with some obliques, then repeat. Side, middle, side. Did abs for the whole song. SOLID!!!

On the way home, picked up a fresh rotissier chicken. ATE OVER HALF OF THE THING WITH SOME OATMEAL. Mooooooo. Last night, weighed myself. 171.4????

Is that possible? Yeah I know - woopie! But I had to tell someone and hopefully someone will be nice enough to give me a pat on the back (or butt - whichever) LOL

I have a cool new workout bud. Granted he is 26 years old and I should know better. Most of my injuries are from keeping up with guys a lot younger than I! But there is something animalistic, predatory, whatever about defending your strength, your vigor, your dominance when working out with the younger guys. The bigger guys, the stronger guys. Yeah - its call mid life crisis!!! LOL.

But seriously, I have to give a shout out to Trevor for giving it a go. He is awesome at giving a good spot, pushing and making me work. So far he is making progress (only been a week - bastard!). We did chest today and I was watching his bench. Good form, solid, and stronger than I thought. Granted a lot weaker than most but then again he has been working out at Planet Fitness with no drive whatsoever. Today, his chest pumped up which surprised even him. That was cool. He takes my ridicule and harrassment and gives it right back. YES! I need some one who doesn’t have to ask his wife or girlfriend if he take his B^LLS out of her purse and bring them along to the gym.

So I expect to be putting on some serious size and strength within the next three months (unless there is another injury). I also expect this dude to be putting on some serious clean size also - or I’ll have to kick his A$$ some more.

P.S. I would like to give a shout out to all my other previous workout buds: You’all SUCK! LOL! Just messin’ guys. Love ya man. ha ha ha.

I am a firm believer in eating healthy. You are responsible for the health of your body. Dessert isn’t everyday and every meal. I want vegetables!!! Find me a resturant that serves ¼ to ½ of the meal as a NON-STARCHY vegetables (and now salads!) Breakfast - Big plate. Lunch - Medium plate. Dinner - small dessert size plate. Small, high protein with fruit snack between meals. And no sugar yogurt or cottage cheese an hour before bed.

With that being said - I am also a firm believer in living. One cheat meal a week. And enjoy yourself when there is a family function, potluck, birthday party. And that is just what I did last Saturday. My church had its annual Sunday School picnic. Homemade chicken corn soup, pulled pork BBQ and hotdogs with dessert potluck. After the soup and pork, I started with fruit, add chips, add pinacoloda cream pie, Peanutbutter cream pie, chocolate chip cookie, Fresh apple pie, fresh blueberry pie, and a pie of rice crispy treat made with sliced almonds. Can you say Mooooooo!!! At least I washed it all down with about ½ a gallon of water. I did skip the fresh blackraspberry icecream. No wonder my weigh went from 168 to 173. If ya see me at the gym, please kick on butt and make me get on the treadmill, again!

There are many people on this site that inspire me. Sometimes it is the amazing stories of overcoming physical, mental, emotional trauma or simply overcoming themselves. Sometimes it is the shear progress of where they were and where they are now. Humbling.

There are many reasons to choose someone as a friend on this site as well. Sometimes it is the same reasons as mentioned previously. Sometimes it is reason that are far more shallow. As a man, I am not ashamed to say that I compare myself with a lot of guys on here. I look better than they do, they look better than I do, I wish I looked like they do. And sometimes I see myself in a lot of these guys. Hey, I was there once. I was in their shoes, struggling to make that life change. A change for the better. A bad breakup can do good and bad things to ya. I love playing the "dad" and encouraging the underdog to succeed and achieve.

I am not looking for this to be a hookup site. I am a little old fashion and still blush. I have very high standards and prefer personality, intelligence, accountability, honesty, and most of all - someone who will stand up and confront me when I deserve it.

I’ll stop here because I said what I wanted to say and I am starting to ramble. If I selected you as a friend - no disrespect - on the contrary I hold you in high respect and want only the best for you and to succeed in your goals. I am standing behind you and cheering you on!

Ok, I use to train people. Mostly as a hobby or side job. Not my full time career. I didn’t want money and the stress of making a living to interfer with my ability to train. When I trained in the past, it was all about that person. Making them the best they can be. EVERY one of them said I was the best trainer, workout partner, coach they ever had. It was all about: educating, nutrition, body mechanics, form, safety, motivation, accomplishment, self esteem, and lifestyle. And noticable progress could be see in the first month. Continued progress was noticed by friends and those around. Many times have people approach me or the person I was training to ask if they were taking steriods. SERIOUSLY. Like I said, making them the very best they can be. My quality as a educator and workout partner has even caused my gym membership to be threatened by the management.

So there is this trainer, going to the police accademy, goes out drinking with an old buddy. Trashed, then decides to drive somewhere else for more alcohol. Gets busted for DUI. Gets booted from the accademy for breaking the law. Blames the police accademy for screwing him over. As he is telling everyone at the gym, never once did I hear: "I screwed up" or take any responsibility for his own actions. I understand that is his personal life and should have nothing to do with the ability to train people effectively.

So this training is working with someone. Lets say, Mr. X. Mr X has not shown any visible progress in months. Mr X complains to other members that he spent a weekend drinking with his trainer and blew his entire paycheck drinking. Not once but many times Mr X stated to others that his trainer can really drink blows through all of Mr X’s money when they hang out. - Would be one thing to say this about some unfocused, immature kid. But these are two adults.

I wouldn’t want this for a trainer. Anyone who doesn’t demand the best out of me as a friend isn’t really my friend.

Please help me, am I wrong?

Nothing worse than not being able to hit the gym like you once did because of a new job or new shift hours. My excuse is both. So started this new job in January. With the training and classes and learning something so new - stress!!! I knew that I had lost SOME size and SOME strength but this week. I was hitting it and hitting it hard. Getting back into it. Feeling good. No, feeling awesome. Enough to make me stare at myself in the lockerroom mirrors afterwards. Sweaty, flexing, feeling the pump - yeah, its all coming back to me.

So this is what I hear: "Hey, haven’t seen you for a long time. What happened. Are you ok? You lost a lot of size, you lost your shoulders. Have you been coming at all? "

Somebody shoot me!!! It’s duck season! Well, I won’t be staring at myself for a while, at least not naked in the lockerroom mirrors for a while. And I thought I was making a come back…

So tune in next week when kick some of my own butt at the gym. Anyone got a wet noodle???

 Waaaaaa! Waaaaaaa! Waaaaaaa!

I must be part bear ’cause I am eating everything in sight. Gearing up for winter hibernation or something. I know I am not pregnant. I put on some massive solid size over last month, dropped the body fat down to 14% and then I did something to my right shoulder and left elbow. Then eating and eating and eating. Moooo. Cut back workouts to doing lighter weight and higer reps to save on the shoulder and elbow. Incredible burn and pump. Spending alot more time at the gym. Workout buds are kicking my butt but I gotta learn to say no. Spending way too much time at the gym. First there was Dave (kicked my butt into a new level of intensity - then he had work issues. Lost him. Then I worked out with Rob, Dude put on some much size. We kicked each other’s butt. Then lost him to planet fitness. Then came Kenny. The little string bean put on 14 pounds of solid muscle in 3½ weeks working out with me! Unbelievable!

Then I added Mr. D’ and then came John. Working out with 4 of us. Pushing. And Pushing. Everyone of them is making so much progress, size, I am getting so many questions and comments from other gym members and even trainers. Keep in mind - I do not, I repeat: I DO NOT WORK FOR LA FITNESS! I don’t train people at LA Fitness! I just workout with these guys and spot them.

After all those guys left for work, then finished my workouts, abs, some stretching and then worked out someone else. Getting to the gym between 5:30-6:00 am and leaving around 8:30-9:00am. Is something wrong with this picture? I need to stop being a nice guy.

So for those who haven’t seen me at the gym for a few days - I blew myself out and caught a cold. Gives me time to recoop, rest my shoulder and elbow, prioritize my life, restructure my workout routines and exercises, research, and studying spanish. Plus I have 4 books on the shelf waiting to be completed.
