Update

November 7, 2009

To keep it short, my kids ran away from my ex-wife’s in Jan, I was awarded custody until June but cam terrible mental baggage, where my mother took a turn for the worse and just passed away Oct 2nd.  I ceased all training until this past week.  I have had one setback after another, ending in a breakdown about 3 weeks ago.

I am keeping an upper lip, but I will not say it is easy.  More to come as I will succeed on this journey.

Defeat is not an option.

January 10, 2009

I have once again suffered loss.  The one who was to be my best man, and my oldest friend passed away a few weeks ago.  I helped transport him to his home with his wife and son.  I have known this family for over a decade, and my friend, John, was my first serious MA student.  He was the kind of friend that comes along once in a lifetime.  Late nights of talks and philosophical debates that most would find broing in this high pressure, quick paced lifestyle.

I will focus on changing my body to once again regain the status it once had.  Stress has been beating me at work and home, and a different outlet is needed.  I laid off my training represented in my logs for almost 2-1/2 months, and I feel miserable.

But defeat is not an option, and after re-assessment of my goals and training am beginning yet again.

Coming back strong

September 20, 2008

I lost my father on Aug 29th, and now my mother requires full time care.  While working 50+hrs/wk and in my 3rd year full time for a BA in Info Tech my schedule is busy to say the least.  I lost some of my ground during the 3 weeks I didn’t workout, but I’m coming back strong.  ((did i mention I have 3 kids 3 days/wk and a single father)).

I changed my workout routine to allow for better muscle healing, and adjusted my supplements to allow for ease of budget.  I still kept the requirements, but multi-tasking is essential.

I listen to my lectures and audiobooks (business) while sunning for an hour, directly after my post workout meal.  I plan my next day at work using Dragonspeak to dictate/type up my to do list while hitting the stationary bike.  It comes down to being able to maximize time.

We all have surprises that show up on the radar, but the true test of a warrior is to see the distraction, recenter himself, and keep going.
