So this weekend we went to the BNBF Wales show in Newport, we went mainly to see what the format was like, my GF is competing in September and has never been to a show before. so we thought we’d go see what it was like
we learnt..
- make sure we get the music right
- make sure the costume fits
- make sure she gets her poses down
- work harder
- it’s a lot of fun
The show was awesome, some of these guys really rocked (c’mon jojo) it’s not as much fun as donning the pads and playing football (what is) but it’s still fun, and she (the GF) seems to be in a lot better frame of mind and happy that she knows what she is going to be up against.
I was interested to see who the show pans out, there were a couple of interesting results but then we didn’t know what the judges where looking for, size / symmetry / both…also there where more than a couple who needed to squat more, and calves..don’t forget the calves!!!.
Also judges shouldn’t (in my limited opinion) sit down for a coffee (or whatever) with the competitors during the intermission, I get that they are pros and so the peers of the current competitors but keep a distance between you huh. Sit at a desk and let folk come to you not get all buddy up with guys before judging them, keep a sense of objectivity. That being said I’d figure that there were very few surprises, so it’s all good.
There was one guy there (novice) who simply should not have been on stage, end of, he had nothing, no muscle density no shape no cuts…now he had serious amounts of courage to go up there and he gave it 110% for that I’ll give him a big round of applause, but …well.
Some of the posing was seriously creative, good music so helps and if you use it well better, one guy hit a new pose on every major key change, ,and I mean hit, it was awesome and the crowd got behind him, his music rocked and so did his routine. The slower more subtle music made the competitors have to work harder to get a reaction from the crowd, hence get your music right.
But meh what do I know, I’m just a skinny little white kid from England
