I like to do "jacknife" crunches, where as you do a normal crunch bring your knees up to meet your elbows, this works the full range of abd. muscles...real burner!!!

For lower abs try this one... keep your head, arms and back flat on the mat and raise your legs while brining your knees into your chest, then extend your legs back out and lower your heels until they almost hit the mat but don't touch and then bring them back up and repeat.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the information Trixter! :) I don't eat fish, just dairy and eggs so yes lentils would be a good addition for me.

Ok, I need to correct myself there... When the chemical bond of creatine and the attached phosphate is broken is creates ATP, which is what fuels the muscle. So, creatine isn't really a precursor, but most people think it is.

Side note, for more protein try looking into lentil beans as I've heard those are a good source, then of course fish if you do that still.

Where did you hear that from? Taurine and creatine are two totally different creatures... Taurine is an amino acid and good for preventing muscle fatigue (hence why there is commonly 1g per serving in most energy drinks). Creatine is naturally occuring in muscle fibers and is a precursor to ATP which is the actual fuel used to make the muscles contract. In all honestly, neither have any anabolic properties, they just may help you train a bit harder or lift more to provide a greater stimulation to the body and nerves, consequently resulting in more muscle. However, for that you still need the protein...

Hi Turney - would you be so kind as to let me know how your experiment with taurine works for you? I'm embarking on a vegan plan, and I'm looking for ways to get some mass building back in to my diet. Thank you!

First of all, it's not a big deal! You have a great attitude it seems too. Just enjoy it and get back on track next meal. It's ok to indulge every once in awhile. We all do it. Even if we don't admit it sometimes. LoL. Sometimes your body is craving it so bad you have to give in! Second thing is, 4 slices!? Wow! I'm impressed! LoL.

Patience is tough to conquer sometimes. I am trying to drop body fat and at least maintain the muscle that I have. Talking to people on here helps me stay more focused. Good luck with everything!

I got alot of bruises when I first started weight training too. I think you bang into things without realizing. Once you get into your normal routine you'll notice that you have less.

Okay, so this is my first official day! The pictures are up so now I have to do something about them! I just got back from vacation on May 10th (was in Florida for 2 weeks) and right away I got sick. I am just getting over it now so I have not been to the gym for about 3 weeks. I got a pretty good weight workout in tonight and I am hitting the gym first thing tomorrow morning before work for my cardio.

I realize that I am not going to get make any progress without recording all of my weight workouts and what I am putting into my mouth, I have to stay consistent this time. This will help me be more accountable for what I am eating as well.
