Tired and Grouchy

I have been trying to eat low carb for the past few weeks but lately I am feeling tired, grouchy and sick to my stomach.  I have to figure out an alternative to protein shakes and bars because I think it my be the sweetners that are making my stomach upset.  I don’t normally eat anything "diet" because I want to avoid sweetners.  Of course being a vegetarian there are only so many quick proteins that I can eat, I do eat eggs and dairy so I might have to switch from shakes back to egg whites and cottage cheese (that I am really sick of eating).  Salad dressing was such a treat today, I have been eating so bland that it tasted like a flavour (yes I am Canadian, hence the U) explosion in my mouth!!

 As far as my workouts are going I am starting to have complete strangers that I have never noticed before commenting on how often I am going to the gym!! LOL  Things like "Do you ever take a day off?" or "Wow you’re pretty serious now aren’t you?"  Good thing I have my choice of 6 gyms within a 15 minute drive from work/home……might have to mix it up so people don’t think I am weird… 

My legs have been really sore since my leg workout on Sunday (this is Thursday) and so I did do mostly light weights for my legs this morning.  I will have to take it easy on my lower body next week.  It is funny how some parts of my body are doing exactly what I want while my legs and stomach are not looking at all like I thought they would for all of the hard work and clean eating that I have been doing.  There have been a couple of BBQs on some weekends, but I don’t think that is enough to hinder my results.  I will have to clean it up a bit more on my cheat day I guess. 

I took some progress pictures tonight to make sure that I am on track and I will post them this weekend if there is time.

More progress

I am down another pound!  Hopefully it is good weight loss (FAT!!), I am really happy that I have stuck it out this long, it has been 4 weeks now since I have started eating clean.  I can honestly say that it makes a HUGE difference having the progress pictures.  I have been trying to do this for a few years but I always fell off the wagon because I would have one bad weekend and be all bloated and frustrated by Monday.  I think this gave me a "what’s the point attitude" that would give me an excuse to go back to my bad eating habits and then once I would get motivated again I would be started from square one.  I have been telling everyone I know who wants to lose weight that they should take some pictures, seeing even an inch of result in those photos is what is keeping motivated!

Sunday

So it is day 2 of my BFL and I had two BBQs in a row, I managed to control myself pretty well and it is not like it is something that happens every weekend.  I went to the gym with Stell to do weights; we worked on legs and we did pretty well with the heavier weights.  I love going to the gym with her on Sunday because I think I push myself that much more.  I followed that up with 20 mins on the treadmill at 5.5mph. 

I have RPM tomorrow and it will be interesting to see how well I do, I think my legs are going to be killing me!  I am going to be booking a body fat analysis so that I know where I am now, it has been almost 4 weeks since I started and I want to see how low I can get my body fat over the next 2 months.

Progress

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I went to the gym to do a spinning class this morning and was surprised to see that I lost 3 pounds.  I did not think that would have happened, but I am not going to complain.  Last night I went to the gym to do weights after work and when I opened my gym bag realized that I forgot my pants!!  I considered buying a pair at the Sport Check beside my gym but changed my mind and did my workout at home instead.  I had a really good ab work out (I finally set up all of my equipment again) and shoulders.  Gym Rat’s arm and shoulder progress pictures are really inspiring me (way to go big sis!!).

I will be back at the gym tomorrow to do some more weights, I just realized yesterday that I am supposed to be taking the creatine before and after my work outs.  Those pills are really helping, big time and I am happy with the muscle tone that I can feel, hopefully I can burn some more fat so that I can actually see it! :)

Back at it

My life is getting back to normal again so I am able to manage my eating better.  We had a little humidity/heat spell that put my appetite off and I was eating very little.  To keep it simple I am going to stick to a lot of the same foods for the next week for my breakfast, lunch and snacks and just switch up my dinners a little. 

 Weights are going well, I have definitely increased my strength as I discovered during a group weight class.  I do notice that I am very tired in the morning now and I am not sure if this would be due to recovery, but either way I can not get up in the morning to work out.  I also have a lot of really big bruises all over my legs and I am not sure if that would be from the weights as well.

My eating has been really good food, but today I did not have enough time to eat enough, I will do better tomorrow.  My cat was sick last night and had to take him to the vet this morning so I missed my cardio workout.  I did a leg workout at home tonight with lots of lunges, squats, and calf raises.

 Last night I had a really good upper body workout.  I am pushing myself by doubling my weight and I realize that I was not lifting enough.  Tomorrow I will give myself a rest day and I have a bbq tomorrow and Sunday, let’s see how good my will power is against the beer and wine.

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Doing good today, I am feeling totally motivated to eat well!!  Let’s see how long that lasts…..

I went to the gym before work and did 30 minutes (2.5 miles) on the treadmill, I still can’t seem to shake this cough that I have had for the last 2 and a half weeks, crazy…I hardly ever get sick for longer then a few days.

I went to the nutrition store by my gym after work and totally confused myself…..to much to choose from.  I gave up and left with some creatine, I will check out some articles on this site to see if I can figure things out.  I am looking for an omega 3 that is not a fish oil, any vegetarians out there with suggestions?
