As some of you might remember I purchased a gym in Decemeber. A comerical gym.. not a bowflex..hehe
Anyway, business went from 18 members to 132 members ( which is great for our small rural town). I try very hard to be a “people person” when clients come in and right now I’m working out with a variety of people. Two of my ladies are a little overweight (in the mid to low 300lb range), some are high school and college kids wanting to tone-up, and my oldest is 74. Anyway, one of the ladies younger brother joined to help motivate his sister. He’s worked out with my workout/business partner three times so far.
Yesterday he walked into the gym while I’m there making equipment repairs and stocking items. He looks really serious and says “Mike.. can talk to you about something?” I stop what I’m doing and say “Sure… shoot”. I must admit I was a little worried because he had a very serious look on his face.
He said, “Man. I know I’ve only been lifting weights for a couple weeks, but I want to get serious about it. I want to know more about the right things to eat. I don’t want to lift and get really really huge, but I want to get bigger and in shape and look above average… I wanna look like you.”
I about passed out. NO ONE has ever said they want a body like mine. I laughed and said, “Dude… you don’t wanna look like me. I’m nothing. You want to build YOUR body and look the best you can look.” He went on to talk about how the gym has a family feel to it and feels really comfortable being there.
Anyway, I’ve been sorta emotionally down lately. I work out EXTREMELY hard and have been eating clean. I just thought I wasn’t making any progress.
Sometimes inspiration just walks through the door and changes your prospective. It did for me… bet it can for you.
