My Protein Shake (1st Meal of the Day)

just in case you all wanted to know what my protein shake consists of , here you go. by the way this is my first meal of the day and i usually drink it around 6:30AM:

 2 cups soymilk, 1/2 banana, 2 scoops of very green, 1/2 cup oats, 2 scoops natural vanilla whey

 i love this concoction! it definitely hits the spot and gives me roughly 300 calories for my 1st meal.

hey, what i’ve noticed is that i tend to listen to the same playlists for weeks at a time when i’m working out. the funny thing is, when i leave the locker room after i’ve changed and commence to hitting the weights, i think to myself, "damn, i meant to update my playlists last night!!!" hence, i’m stuck with the same old playlists for my workout that day! LOL

i will make a concerted effort to update/create a new workout playlist TONIGHT!!!!

and, if you’re wondering what’s on my current list:

 rick ross - maybach music 2

 framing hanley - lollipop

 mf doom - rhinestone cowboy

 mf doom - mr. clean

eric b. & rakim - don’t sweat the technique

gza ft. ka - firehouse

kanye - amazing

kanye - paranoid

wayne - every girl

mobb deep - put ‘em in their place

 and a couple of others.

 since i’m gonna begin lifting heavier and bulking up right around the corner, i think i’ll introduce a "harder/darker" playlist w/ more mobb deep, m.o.p and probably some vintage punk (bad brains, suicidal tendencies, etc.)

if any of you have any suggestions or would like to share your playlists with me, i would love to hear and get ideas!!

Tip of the day: On Drinking Water

when i’m at work people always see me with my 1/2 gallon jug (at my desk, in meetings, in the hallway, etc.) they always ask, "you’re gonna drink all of that water in 1 day??!!" my response is always, "yes… actually, i’m gonna drink at least 4 of these!"

if you’re having a difficult time getting in "at least" 1/2 gallon of water per day, you may want to follow this relatively simple ritual that’s been working for me! okay, it’s fairly basic: 

1) keep your water with you at all times

2) whenever you want to drink, say to yourself "if i take a sip, i must drink at a minimum  20 gulps!" - this means that EVERY TIME you drink or want water you MUST take at least 20 gulps or don’t drink any at all!

 i’m tellin’ you folks, it may sound silly but it works very well for me! give it a try if you’re having difficulties getting that much needed water in!!!!

Dreary Day in Maryland

i hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed their memorial day weekend! got back on track today… i deviated slightly (especially from my diet) this weekend. well, today was shoulders day with a touch of legs thrown in for good measure. seated leg press and leg extensions are all that i did for legs today. btw, i HATE working legs, but i love working shoulders. afterwards i hit the eliptical to get my heart rate up a bit then finished off the workout w/ light abs.

where are you sun??!! i love walking out of the gym after i’ve had a good workout and the sun is shining brightly - didn’t happen today! LOL

 anyway, tomorrow is bi’s, tri’s and more intense focus on the legs and abs.

Photo Shoots Last Weekend

okay, so i had 3 shoots last weekend. the first was on friday at 7pm! ugh… of course i was hating life earlier in the day. i was extremely limited w/ my water intake and was thirsty as hell!!! the shoot went well… i’m waiting to get the pics back from the photographer. he said he’s extemely busy working on other projects, so i told him that there is no rush… i’m cool as a fan. when he finishes them, he finishes them. i’ve seen the proofs and think they will definitely be worth posting and adding to my modeling portfolio!

 saturday, i had the second shoot at 8:30 am…. you know i’m extremely tired - especially from the previous night. the shoot was about 40 minutes away from my house and went extremely well! this photographer mentioned submitting our shots to "under armour". he’s pretty well known in the photography/modeling/fashion industry and says that it looks very promising! - not getting my hopes up though - if it happens, it happens.

the third shoot was impromptu… there happened to be another professional photographer (his buddy) there at the shoot and he wanted to take a couple of shots. i was like, "cool, i’ve dieted down for the past 2 weeks and am in contest condition… why not?!!!"

 we’ll see how this modeling thing goes… looking at the proofs from the friday shoot has definitely made me consider competing in 2010!!!

Counting Down….

so, i’m about 1.5 weeks out from hitting the beach in sunny miami! i’m so sick of this fickle weather here in md!!!

yesterday i worked chest and back. i’ve been feeling extremely tired in the gym lately. i thought the fact that i took sunday off would help my monday workout - not! i was very drained (especially while benching). i did:

 4 sets of inclines, 4 sets of flat hammer machine, 4 sets of incline hammer machine, 3 sets of cable flys.

4 sets of bent over rows, 4 sets lat pulldowns, 4 sets of rows.

cardio: 20 min.

abs

 

it’s tough trying to get through a workout on extremely low carbs… does anyone feel me on this one?
