Yipee!! Back to the gym!

October 2, 2009

Ive been gone for a while…workin, summer vaction….etc. etc.  I been doing different physical things, like hunting my butt off….literally… and Coaching my girls volleyball team which is its own workout….But volleyball is winding quickly to a close and I can finally go back to the gym and get into a routine again.  I cant beleive how much Ive missed it!  Eventhough Ive stayed in good shape and have been working really hard on my eating to clean that up….I just miss the gym..The atmosphere…the challenge…the people…

I cant wait to set and acheive some weight lifting goals….and see how my previous condition has persevered….since I havent been in a consistant lifting routine for a few months now……

CANT WAIT!

biggest LOSER!!

May 29, 2009

Okay, the company biggest loser competition is over.  So the guy that won the $400, lost 47 pounds in 4 months….. much better than my 8 …sigh…. but here is the best part….. after the final weigh in, he went to the gas station and while filling his car with gas… PASSED OUT!!!!!  apparently, he had been dieting….. like eating only a tomato that entire day….. and doing cardio twice a day…..WOW

well, he can have the $400 bucks that kind of crazy dieting is over for me!!!!!  So congrats on losing the wieght and good luck keeping it off.  I will keep on lifting weights and trying to eat like a human being……

FAT FAT GO AWAY!!!

May 18, 2009

Okay… still working out HARD either at the gym or p90x 6 days a week. Still making gains in strength… I CAN DO 2 DEAD HANG PULL UPS NOW!!!!! yippee! AND I Can bench 135!!!! so two of my short term goals have been met.

Yet the FAT just keeps hangin around!!!!!  So it seems I am still getting bigger and not smaller.  My jeans STILL do not fit….and I cant get my arms into any of my shirts…. I don’t want to go out and buy any new clothes right now because I would still like to lose 20 lbs… OF FAT!!!

I’m going on 5 months now of going to the gym everyday, Im at the 7 week mark in p90x….yet the FAT is NOT LEAVING.

It seems it must be my diet that is causing this… but I feel like Im am eating well.  I try to stick to high protien, low carb….. DO I REALLY NEED TO START COUNTING EVERY CALORIE???  I mean, I guess I would try that if I though it would work but……I have never been able to lose weight that way before…. too tedious and WHO has time for that?

I just want the FAT to GO AWAY!!! I know there is some sexy muscle under there just dying to get out!!!  And it isnt like Im not working hard!

SIGH….

IT’s okay to eat!!!

May 15, 2009

Ahhh the battle continues :) THis morning at work we had a staff breakfast..waffles, strawberries etc.  Luckily one of the bosses had a great ideas to make whole wheat waffles…made with orange juice instead of milk YUMMMM! they were fabulous!  I will try to get the recipe.  Anyway…. I over heard a few of my "biggest loser" competitors complaining and asking why we couldn’t have done this next friday when the competition was over and we could acctually eat everything we wanted….. SERIOUSLY!!???

Well,,,,,, we are eating today… and it is okay to eat something in moderation for a special occasion.  And if you can t figure out how to moderate your eating then this competition will have been for nothing!!!!!

Okay… off to a meeting. Just needed a little rant before I had to face everyone again :)

lose the battle….. win the war

April 30, 2009

At work we have been having our own personal biggest loser competition.  THe competition started in Feb and was supposed to go until May first but they have decided to extend it for 3 weeks with the last day being May 22.  It has been fascinating to see what has gone on around her… Now keep in mind I am a teacher, so the people invovled in this program all have very similar work loads and work schedules.  We have the ability to use campus facilites which includes a small weight room and a ‘break’ room that has some excercise balls, treadmill a universal and a a few other wieght training things.

Within the first 2 months of the competition a few people decided that "now was not a good time for them to lose weight"  WHAT??!?!?!!?  Anyway, One of my coworkers ordered nutrisystem but after month said "hmmm this is boring and Im not into losing weight right now… "  WHAT!!?!?!??

Others have been working thier buns off LITERALLY…. two of the men in the competition have lost almost 50 lbs each!!!! THAT is insane!  THe competition only just began in February!!!!!  THe one man said he has just stopped drinking soda and "cut back" on his carbs after 7pm.  I feel like the slimquick commercial… ya know the one where the man stops drinking soda and becomes skinny and the woman drinks water for a year and barely loses anything….lol. ANyway when the competition was extended he said he was upset because he was finished dieting and wanted to stop working so hard now……

I have to say I have been there before…whoop diet is over…. where is the chocolate cake?  THat is how I got in this yo-yo position of being 36 and having to lose 30lbs AGAIN! Only last time it was 20 and before that 15 etc.

Another guy has been SERIOUSLY dieting (his wife said their food bill was cut in half!!)  So clearly that is working for him… but is it long lasting??? I guess we’ll see.

It is strange though that not ONE person has lifted a single weight…. no one joined the gym… or wants to participate in any group workout activities……. I began the competition by going back to the gym to start lifting again… I slowly added cardio ( thanks to my athsma… cardio has to go a little slow)  BUt I go to the gym… EVERYDAY, I lift, I run, I do p90x, I try to make healthy food choices and what do I have to show for it?  FABULOUS gains in my strength at the gym… awake  and alert all day long … thanks to healthy food choices,  …… and….wait for it…….    8 pounds lost….. sigh.

So, am I going to win this competition? NO…. it doesnt look good for me but…. am I going to stop ANYTHING Im doing now when this is over?  NO NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!

This is my life now, to be healthy, to look good, to feel good!!!!  I will NEVER need to join another biggest loser competition…. maybe next year the contestants will need a trainer.

I may lose this battle …. but I am going to win the WAR!!!!!

ANYONE?????

April 27, 2009

okay… I have to say….still loving the p90x… I still having a hard time making it to the gym with my hubby and doing the at home program… So, what is happening is when I got to the gym with him… I don’t always get my p90x in at home…but I am still gettting in a workout 6 days a week so… I am thinking that is good.

I am curious, though… if anyone is has info…..  I see people talking about bulking and cutting etc….. so I am wondering, what it is I am supposed to be doing right now….

Im trying to lose fat right now but I am thinking that building muscle is a good way to do that….. but… it seems I am building muscle but the fat is still hangin around….literally…lol.  So, I trying to lose and be smaller but am I really builking by lifting all these heavy weights?

I guess I just need a clear explanation of…what is bulking….what is cutting….when should each of these be done….

FEEL THE BURN!

April 14, 2009

Okay.. so I am now on on day 10 of p90x… so far I love it… I can’t wait to get home and start working on it everyday!  It is fun, interesting and a hellova workout.  My husband is sad and missing his work out partner.  I thought maybe I could do both but I can see now that it is just not going to happen….yet.  I cant go to the gym and lift heavy and do the p90x stuff too…..Last week I tried to lift at the gym on the "cardio days" of p90x but… then I was too sore to really perform the movements on the videos so…. I think I will just have to do one for a little while.. and he will have his partner back soon enough after I drop some weight.  I love to lift heavy and I do miss that… but I am in serious need of dropping some fat and building some core muscles! So dont worry honey… I’ll be back soon and hopefully smokin hot! :)

P90-OMG!!!

April 6, 2009

Okay… so I’ve been excitied for this p90x program to arrive… yeah… I’ve been working out a lot (6 days a week) for the past 4 months and I AM seeing some results but they feel very slow… so i was looking for something to kick it up a knotch.. WELL… I got it!!!! I took my  ‘before’ pics this weekend and really…. I can’t even imagine what I looked like 4 months ago before I started working out!!!  Seriously!!! These pics are SOOO embarassing!  How did I let this happen to myself???? Honestly… they are so bad that I will not be posting them…really… I don’t want to punish anyone!  Maybe when I take my 1 month progress pics I could bring myself to put them out there to show the progress.. but for now they are staying safely stored away in my little camera. But I digress!  I do LOVE the new program so far… I’ve only done two days…smile…But I thought it was funny how they humor you a little by having you do some ‘pretest’ skills. for example they want you to be able to do 1pull up and 10 push ups and be able to do jumping jacks for 2 minutes as a prerequisite to starting the program.  No problem!  THEN….. the program subsequently has you repeat sequences of push ups and pull ups for an hour….haha very funny!  and the 2 minutes of jumping jacks???  how about 58 mins of jumping…. smile!!!! Well this workout is definately going to kick my butt… but in a good way!! I am excited and up for the challenge… an READY for some physical results.
