Training has been different going into this show, compared to the last two shows. I now weight 134 lbs, compared to 137 lbs the week of my last show. Before, I underestimated how much influence the mind has over the body. If you are stressed and not mentally in the right place - the show prep will not be as successful. Now, in my mind, I’m in a good place… and very excited to compete!!!
As far as diet goes, I never count calories. I’m still following a low fat, moderate carb, moderate protein ‘diet,’ and have studied "volumetrics" which is an interesting concept useful for anyone who wants to eat less and not feel hungry all of the time. I have only one shake per day, right after cardio in the morning. All of my other protein sources come from whole food. I have greatly increased the intensity of my cardio: sprinting stadiums once a week, interval & hill training, plyos, and some steady low intensity. I have not increased the duration of the cardio… who wants to spend hours in the gym??

On a different note, it’s really important to surround yourself with positive, supportive people. It makes the journey so much easier. That’s all

Soooo… I’m going to try to post at least once a week on here I’m 6 weeks out from the Jacksonville Pro show. I have maintained the 5+ pounds of muscle that I added after Nationals. As far as symmetry goes, I think I need to drop more muscle from my shoulders (will post pics). The overall addition of muscle left me feeling slow, and big.. Maybe it’s a girl thing? I’d like to walk around day to day at 133lbs , not 138lbs. I’m aiming to be at around 130lbs for the show, rather than the 135lbs I was at the Europa… we’ll see! I have cut out protein supplements, and am eating just whole foods for the most part. I don’t know if I’d be able to survive running stadiums if I didn’t know there were pretzels and a diet coke big gulp waiting for me afterward. Yeah, I know. It’s probably not the best food choice, but hey, I work hard! My protein intake is around 120-150g per day, fat is 20g or less, and carbs from 200-300g. If I try to go low-carb, I turn into a zombie… an angry, sometimes belligerent zombie. It’s definintely good to know what works for ya!
