3.5 weeks to go!
Training has been different going into this show, compared to the last two shows. I now weight 134 lbs, compared to 137 lbs the week of my last show. Before, I underestimated how much influence the mind has over the body. If you are stressed and not mentally in the right place - the show prep will not be as successful. Now, in my mind, I’m in a good place… and very excited to compete!!!
As far as diet goes, I never count calories. I’m still following a low fat, moderate carb, moderate protein ‘diet,’ and have studied "volumetrics" which is an interesting concept useful for anyone who wants to eat less and not feel hungry all of the time. I have only one shake per day, right after cardio in the morning. All of my other protein sources come from whole food. I have greatly increased the intensity of my cardio: sprinting stadiums once a week, interval & hill training, plyos, and some steady low intensity. I have not increased the duration of the cardio… who wants to spend hours in the gym??
On a different note, it’s really important to surround yourself with positive, supportive people. It makes the journey so much easier. That’s all

It’s interesting to know that you don’t count calories. That’s always been the big argument with me, because I’ve always hated counting but so many people insist that it’s an absolute requirement to get in top shape. I think it’s a temperamental thing. Some people just need to feel that sense of control, but others like to go by feel. Best of luck on your training!
