Off to Orlando

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

I leave in the am for a consulting meeting in Orlando at the Carribe Royal hotel and it looks to have an awesome fitness center. Will suck to be on east coast time with 6:30 am meetings though on the other side will have a long evening to workout. I had a rough stretch this week with call and 3 -4 out of 6 of us out on vacation. Hope to hit some workout tomorrow and Saturday night though Sunday i have 13 hrs of flight time to come home since all flights out of Orlando are full for the end of Spring Break.

On call today and just got home. 4 of my 6 colleagues were out today and I was the lucky man on the bull. It was a fast pace all day. I got to take a long lunch however and meet my family at the Chamber luncheon and give a McGruff Crime fighting dog and his convertible to our police dept from my clinic. It was one of our large community gifts for the year and it was a blast. My kids loved it. We had a great time and then back to reality. I will try and post some pics. 

 I got to work chest last night, I had intended to hit tris as well though got a late start and stopped at chest. I will try and workout again tomorrow though anticipate going back to the ER here shortly for another admit. 

 Hope all is well with everyone take care and have a good rest of the week. Growing older, Growing stronger, Growing bigger.

Great Arm workout!!

4 out of 5 nights. Feels so good. I did 8 sets of bis and 9 sets of tris tonight. The O 35 shirt helped I am sure. I spilled first blood however. I was doing bench dips and the top 45 lbs plate shifted and caught skin between it and the lower 45 lb plate. Ouch. It literally broke skin. This just after I had posted about two Gym injuries qualified for stupid human tricks. I have enjoyed reconnecting with some friends on the forum. It is truly  inspiring. I don’t know what tomorrow holds though hope to hit it as I am on call for the weekend.

 The legs are feeling great after yesterday. It feels so good to have been consistent again this week. Pushing the protein as well. Hope to hit the 180 at some point. Take care to all and good luck. Happy Easter a bit early.

First leg workout in a while and it just about made me puke. I was dead dog tired after call last night and stressful half day ending at 2 pm. Fun with the kids. Cooked dinner for my sweetheart and then hit the garage. I had a migraine earlier though felt like hitting it. I did legs for the first time in a while and had the steam leave pretty quick. I did 5 sets of light squats ATG and then supersetted LEg ext and SLDL single leg DB for 3 supersets. Ran out of energy and felt like tossing the dinner so quit. Stomach now back down. Legs feel great. Happy as can be to have it post call after a pretty rough 30 hr day.  I didn’t want Bando on my case. Thanks actually to Bando for helping me drag the legs to the garage.

Dead day

Monday, March 17th, 2008

HMM? prepare taxes or go do Back. Back won. I had planned on doing shoulders. I normally do back and chest though planned to switch it up a little. I had nothing left after deads to do shoulders. We will rethink the back / shoulders split. I did 16 sets of back in 42 minutes. It felt great. I had little tweaks in the back all day though this eve was fine so hit it. The deadlifts felt great. I have missed them for a while though enjoyed them so much I am going to try and put them back in at least every other week if not more.

Tomorrow finds me on call with a 7 am meeting and lunch meeting. I hope to get done  in time to catch the first of the seasons T ball practice with my 6 yr old though normally if I plan on something there is some crisis at 5:30 to 6 pm. Will keep my fingers crossed.

 Hope everyone is having a good week. I appreciate the support and comments to get me out in the gym to get back in the groove. Take care and have a great day tomorrow.

Thanks Bando. I was close to skipping today. I left an intense Wii Lego Star Wars tournament wtih my two oldest to workout when the PM from Bando hit. I appreciate the training partner even if it is an ipartner.  I did chest. Decided to start over at day 1 of my workout plan since I missed the week. Lots of good excuses though not to waste more energy on them here.  I did 16 sets of chest (focusing on chest for the next four weeks).  I am on call Tues this week so hope to hit back and shoulders tomorrow, legs and forarms on Wed post call and arms on thurs. Hit cardio once or twice and abs here and there. That is the plan. Bando keep me to it.

Back from the cruise and a year older.

We had a blast on the Mexican Riviera. It was a great trip with lots to celebrate. We shared our 15th anniversary and my 39th birthday in the same trip. We had so much fun and all of the uninterrupted time was a blessing. We missed the kids a ton though called daily and emailed daily. Can’t wait to see the cell phone bill for international calls.  We were able to eat clean and drink plenty. The gym was mostly cardio with hydraulic machines and dumbells. WE opted for cardio. I started at 174 and ended at 175.  The only abberancy in the diet was the tequila which is traditional in Mexico and safer than the water, and the afternoon pizza and beer as we had the late dinner. I was pleased to see the healthy choices and proper portions served on the ship. It was easy to continue to eat clean. I had no trouble with sea sickness on board though for the first three days off the world tilted left and then right every 10 seconds or so. That wore off today and I was able to hit it again.

I did 17 sets of chest. It felt so good I just kept going when normally I stop at 12 or so sets for chest. I used the chest workout in the April 08 M and F and used some of the form changes it suggested and really felt the impact. I hope to be able to move tomorrow. I am glad to be back. I lost some of the motivation as the cruise vacation is over now. The irony is that out of the 2200 people on board my wife and I figured there were about ten women and four men that were physically fit in clothes or a bathing suit. It was easy to choose healthy on the ship with all of the full plates walking by in the arms of the obese. It was also the motivation to hit cardio and take the stairs all the time even though we were on the 8th floor.

 Sorry so long winded. The trip was a blast, hope to be able to post some pics though that is always a challenge. Take care to all. I missed the BB.com community and am glad to be back.
