Bon Voyage!!

This will be my last blog for a while. We leave in the am for our 15 th Anniversary Cruise Vacation to the Mexican Riviera. I will miss keeping in touch with my new friends here. You are the ones who keep me motivated and keep me sane. I do not have access to those who share fitness as a priority in real life very often so this site is my outlet for that. I thank all of those who have given me encouragement or advice. Take care to all. I plan on having fun though want to workout while I am there. I have packed plenty of protein powder and bars and hope to eat clean and get to workout. I will at least get to do cardio and we have some pretty fun excursions planned that will offer exercise.   I am so excited though am already missing my kids as they sleep and we will leave before they awaken in the am.  They will likely have more fun with Grandma and Grandpa here in anycase.

 Take care and prayers go to Bodyhard. Thanks for all of the support from my friends here. Yes the O35 shirts are in the suitcase. I hope to be the first to wear one in Acapulco.

2 days and counting

Only two days left before our cruise. I am so psyched. I did chest and back today. I pulled something in my right lower lat early in the week and felt pretty good today so worked back anyway. Had a good workout though tweeked the back spot a little a few hours after and feeling it now. I hope to hit arms tomorrow. Monday, work will be busy and monday night I suspect will be crazy making sure everything is packed. Getting excited to have 8 days with my sweetheart. No pager. Minimal phone calls I suspect at $2.95 a minute, and only fun to be had.

LEGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was half way through legs wondering why I was having a hard time recovering and then realized I was post call so had a 32 hr day followed by a ton of family stuff packed into a few hours, bought half a cow, took all the boys to get hair cuts, came home and surprised my wife with a steak dinner on the grill with 40 degree weather, then watched the lunar ecclipse with my kids and then bed time before the workout. So long winded as it was, I had a great leg workout. I went lighter though did deep squats and worked on form hit 200 by 8 ATG on squats and really felt the burn in the quads. Knees feel great.  I have to admit a limiting factor was the huge steak dinner trying to get back out on those heavy squats and leg presses.  Followed with calves. Did Donkey raises for the first time in years with my wife on my back but at only 125 I had to go for high reps until I convinced her to hold a dumbell and got to 140. Will work up to convincing her to hold a 45 on my back as well. Had a good time. Unfortunately I have work to do now. I have a lunch meeting and dinner meeting tomorrow so little chance of a workout. But the countdown to cruise day is now only 5 more days so I am trying not to sweat it.

I just got home a little while ago. Got a bite to eat and did  9 sets of abs.  It is not much though it is something that let me get away from the day.  I did not get to work abs last night as I got  a late start so felt good to sneak it in now. I also got to go intense as it did not follow something else.  I have 10 hrs left of call and this is my last call night before vacation. I am pretty well psyched though if history repeats itself I can plan on being at the hospital all night. I am hoping to thwart this as I don’t fly out tomorrow but next Tues so it may fool the system. Take care to all.

LAte night for me. I have been so busy with work but snuck in a triceps and biceps workout tonight and felt good. I am on call tomorrow hope to hit abs. Then legs post call. Tough week before my vacation next week. I am counting the days.

Prayers to BH and his family for his new crisis. This poor man has sufferred. Yet he has been so strong. I pray that he can forge his way through this next phase of life.

Back and chest

I had a few days off with the cold and bad call and a particularly troublesome family in the hospital eating up an extra hour or two per day. Got in chest and back today. After last weeks great workout on chest and back today paled in comparison though still got 1980 for 6 for two sets this week and went up on the reps for subsequent sets dropping weight. Felt good through chest though ran out of steam on back. I am finally getting over this cold/sinusitis though wiped out. Cannot wait to feel totally better. I hope today was the start of good days to come. Only 9 days left before leaving on the cruise, 6 days of clinic, one night of call, two evening meetings. I hope to hit it almost everyday. late night workout

I had a big day but hit biceps and abs tonight for 18 total sets. I had wanted to do triceps also though they are sore from chest yesterday. I will hit them with shoulders later this week. I don’t know if I will have anything not sore tomorrow so will wait and see, maybe just cardio.  Off to get some sleep. Take care and good luck to all this week.

Awesome chest and back

I have a cold right now though feel pretty good overall. First day was bad and now just the sniffles and sore throat. Squeezed legs in yesterday and had the best chest / back workout in a long while today. I did 12 sets of chest and 12 sets of back and 3 sets of DB pullovers in between chest and back. One hour 15 minutes and 21,900 pounds total. Felt great. I hit 190 for 6 reps on bench tonight. I looked back at last weeks log and I read Decline DB flyes started at 50 so started at 50 tonight and after one rep realized it was decline DB press last week starting at 50 so I had a chuckle and then backed off a bit.

Was so glad to workout today again. I will aim for arms/abs tomorrow and shoulders/forearms on Tues.before hitting call again on Wed. I only have two call nights left before our cruise. I am so psyched 8 days without a pager and a cell phone, just my wife and I to celebrate our 15 th anniversary.

Quick legs

I did a ton with the kids and family today and had only a one hour window to workout but hit 10 sets of legs including a new lower ATG squat that felt great. My flexibility has increased so I was able to go lower than ever before. Felt great. I worked quick with 90 second rests. Squats, DB SLDL and then leg ext to pump at the end. Felt great. Then showered and a date night with my sweetheart. Had a great time out to dinner with friends. Have tomorrow off as well so great chance again to hit it. Take care to all and have a great Sunday.

Shoulders and forearms last night

I hit shoulders and forearms last night. Had fun though tired easily. Still recovering from call night monday. I normally find that the second day post call is the worst for me. Hope to do something tonight though will keep it light as I have call again in the am. Then only 2 more after that before the cruise. I have perhaps developed short timers with more snow last night I want warm weather. Take care to all.
