Business trip

I am off this am for  a meeting in Chicago. I hope the hotel has at least some exercise equipment. Otherwise we will try body weight. Rough week with little time to squeeze in a workout and less time to eat so off almost 5 lbs. Will hope to get back in the groove after this week. Take care.

OUCH

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I had to testify in a child abuse case yesterday and I guess I did a tonic shrug for a few hours as last night after my time in court, my neck seized up on me. I have a rod going from the left occipital area all the way down to mid back. I am bummed as I finally have that situation over with and yet have a gift I did not expect from it. 

 I was all set to use the energy from the situation to have a great workout last night though that did not work out. I am on call today so hopefully tomorrow will be better. Take care.

LIGHT workout today

Today was a nice day out so my family put up the outside Christmas lights. We have two stories and lots of eves.  Up and down the ladder a ton of times and of course overhead work and lifting boxes in and out of the attic and don’t forget arms above the head for hours lacing lights around the trees.  I am sore all over. It was a great day I had all the boys helping and with all the boys outside I had my wife too. I was planning on working out today though my family voted that I had already worked out. So we had a movie night with Santa Claus 3 the Escape Clause.  Great day!

 It was great to see the house all decorated and the kids loved it. I was also pleased at the strength gains since putting up the lights last year. It was very nice to feel solid on the 10/12 pitch roof 30 feet in the air  and the boxes are all lighter this year.

This was  my only chance to get the lights up this year as I am out of town this next weekend then on call the next weekend and then its almost Christmas so I am thrilled we got it done and the kids were such a blast– it was a great workout.

unwanted days off kicked my but tonight

I have had a 9 day stretch of not being able to fit in a workout with a ton of hours and emergencies and life in general. In addition I had food poisoning twice in 7 days. Teach me to dine out at nice places. Both places were nice but I guess I chose wrong.  It lftme 4 lbs down after rehydration as the calories have been way down  with long days of 12 - 32 hrs at a stretch.  Ihad hit 180 for two days and that is my goal though I normally only report a gain if i am the same three days in a row.  Bummed as I have wanted 180 for the last 11months. 

 I did arms and abs tonight the last week of 8 weeks on an arm focus workout. Trying to finish this week and then move on to something else.  I am counting the last 9 days off as a rest period though that is  a misnomer.

Sparce workout week

I have had to resort to sprints to codes and the subsequent tachycardia as HIT training this week. I had three major sick babies today needing full resuscitations so I had quite the workout. One sprint 1/4 mile to the OR for a c section. The shins are not liking me much after this week of lots of hours on the feet and the sprints today from disaster to disaster.  Long day. 9 hrs left of call and then two days off. Hope to workout tomorrow. Take care to all. Hope the blog includes quite a few workouts in the next week as only one night of call and only three days working next week.

Back, bis and abs after food poisoning

I had adinner out with friends last night to the tune of $100 bucks a nice upscale restaurant. Within 6 hrs had classic food poisoning sxs.  Bad night. Weak am, felt better in the afternoon. I have two nights of call this week though so really wanted to workout. Had a fast paced 90 sec rests back, bis and abs workout. Had fun. Skipped on the deads as got the hammies too hard doing legs yesterday. I want to be able to walk tomorrow. I experimented with a make shift hyperextension setup with my existing equipment and it worked fine. Will have to go up on the weights next time. I normally don’t follow legs with back however did this time as I had laid off of legs with my left knee injury. Some soreness today after legs though mostly in the muscles and not so bad at the site of my original injury. I have a hectic week so will have to make every workout count this week.

First leg workout since MRI was normal.

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

I had some added confidence today. Went moderate today. Had some knee pain. I hope to get back and not exacerbate the knee too much. MRI did not show anything terrible  so feel better about using it now.  Worked out with my two oldest boys which added to the rest times and overall time but added to the fun as well. Everyone is resting now. 

 Was surprisingly sore today all over after getting the model A space ready for the garage. Moved my dumbells and then pushed the model A in several times trying to get it so we had the max amount of space.  Will be a work in progress. Still feel blessed to have Grandpa’s Model A. 

My wife revealed our anniversary trip last night to be a cruise. We have a tri level house and she had each of the floors decorated to represent one of the floors on the cruise ship and had the theme of the Mexican Riviera throughout. It was so sweet the way she revealed it to me as it has been a surprise location until now. WE go in just under four months, I need to bulk some more and then cut for our trip. I am on cloud nine.

1931 Model A workout

I was all set to workout today and drank a protein shake and was set to do legs. Went into the garage and started to make more room for Grandpa’s 31 Model A that we are buying for what it cost him to rebuild in the 70’s.  Workout was moving my dumbell rack and bench/squat rack. Compromised my workout space some. Called Grandpa to find out how long it was and the next thing I knew, an old time horn sounded as Grandpa pulled in with the model A.  It fits in the space I made with very little clearance. We have  a three car garage about 1000 sq ft though I park my 2500 HD crew cab and my wifes 07 Suburban in there with a wood shop that has contracted to shelves with various bench tools and  table saw hidden now. My workout stuff sits between bay 2 and 3 and is a smith machine with high and low pulley. I have an old squat/bench rack that my dad and I welded when I was a teen and then 700 pounds of dumbells on a rack, two benches and a weight tree.  All three rigs are in right now with very little clearance. I have to make a decision. We have a large guest room/ craft room/ cardio equipment room inside. I may move my workout stuff in as I use it all the time though we only have guests 2-4 times per year.  I dread moving though working out inside sounds nice as it gets colder.  I am going to try to scooch the Smith machine a little so I can pull the model A straight in though it will still be tight and I dread the first time one of my little guys opens a door into the model a or vice versa into the suburban. 

Long winded I know but it was pretty incredible to get Grandpa’s old model A. It is incredible.  I don’t know how we will make it work but indoor workouts sound pretty cool.

 I am off to get the surprise from my wife. Our 15 th anniversary is coming up and every 5 yrs we take a big trip planned by whoever didn’t plan it last time. I can’t wait to know where we are going. To date all I know is that i had to get a passport.
