Back still improving.

I am feeling much better about my back. I was afraid being on call would make it worse though so far so good. Only 17 hrs 15 minutes to go. I got in some cardio yesterday with a quick sprint to a code and the subsequent tachycardia that goes with a newborn resuscitation. Not truly aerobic though makes me feel better when I can’t work out.  I am going to look forward to trying a workout tomorrow afternoon when I am done. Take care to all. Today was a good day. The back  is only a little sore now. Hurts the most on flexion in the lumbar spine. So happy with the improvement. I have the weekend on call so have committed to not bumming myself out about not working out and then trying to get back at it next week. Take care to all and thanks to those working out for the injured. 

 The time off has given me a chance to catch up on the evening workload taking some pressure off. Overall a good thing though hard to not be working out.

Back still out

My back has me barely moving today. I am so bummed. I have the fire to workout though the body says no.  Hope for relief soon. Taking Naproxen CR with some relief.  Take care to all and someone please workout for me.

Back injury Bummer

I am not sure how I did it though it began after a recent airplane trip the day after a wonderful back workout.  My back has bothered me for two weeks now. Tried to do back tonight though could not even get through a warm up. I am truly bummed as I have been so inconsistent this month. I am getting discouraged and need to get back at it.

WEll it has been a little break. At the advice of others I have not dwelled on it though tried to welcome it as rest.  September has been busy with a mom and dad and best friends get away and then my two oldest boys with their birthdays and all of the family in town. The cliff notes version is not much of a chance to workout. Funny thing is I keep getting little injuries here and there while not working out.

Despite a long Monday, I worked out tonight with the inspiration of a BB.com friend. Thanks. Had a good workout. Endurance is low though to be expected after the day I had and the lack of sleep the last week with work and family visiting.

Great workout today with my 8 yr old trainer!!

I have had a  busy week with work and school things for the kids, dinner meetings etc. Got to work out today. Back and bis. After a plateau for a long time on rows and pulldowns etc I saw a big gain today after about 6 weeks of having added deads to the back workout after getting over the fact everyone has told me a guy my age ( I feel young) should not be doing deads. The kicker today was that my almost 8 yr old worked out with me. I have a full body routine that focuses on form with light dumbells and high reps for him and he wanted to cycle through it a second time when he was done and I was not.  It was a blast and I can see his form coming along as he has more experience. The joy was seeing how much he enjoyed it.

 Off to Seattle with my wife and our best friends in the am for a baseball getaway. I had won 4 tickets with behind the scenes passes to a Mariners game at a charity ball this winter and we are finally getting to use them. Staying over for one other game and then just fun in Seattle for a few days.  I have packed workout clothes though may not need them if just lifting 12ozs at a time.

First leg workout after knee injury

Got the first workout on legs back today after injuring my left knee. Did well in squats and extensions though leg curls cut short by one set secondary to pain medially where my knee popped.  Felt great. I went lite for the most part not wanting to set myself back anyfurther. Good to be back. Take care to all.
