HIIT ME!

pow.jpg

That darn risat!! She’s been telling me how great these box jumps are, and I’m like…’Huhhhh??? What’s a box jump??’ So, under her advice, I just youtubed them and got some good visual! This guy starts out with one riser ….Ris, told me to do eight. So…today I go to the gym, get my risers 8 stacks high. I stop. I look…and I think. Ummmm, No. This isn’t going to work. Take off two. Aaaaahhh, much better!

I loved it! I have been wanting to incorporate some plyometic exercises into my workout but really haven’t investigated them too much. I’m ready for some changes…feeling like I have reached a bit of a plateau in my routine, time to change it up! So then….

I went to bb.com vast article forum and searced for HIIT. Found some good artiles on training. I’m going to start the HIIT on the treadmill tomorrow and I am uber (yes Mary, I said it!!) suber excited to try it!

So, what I need from you???

Your feedback on some personal great plyometic or HIIT expereinces. I want to make these a primary part of my workout for the next 8 weeks. So, I am searching now and would love to hear what works for you!!!

In other news….yes my career at IA State is done!!! Yipee!  It is official and this Saturday has been declared have lots of fun, celebrate with good friends, no holds back, no homework, no work, project free, (deep breath….) SUPER DUPER WEEKEND!!! 2 more days!!!

Ciao!!

this is so funny….this morning when I got to the gym and you were already running, I thought "holy crap that girl is running fast" and then the next time I looked I thought "it looks like she slowed down a bit" and then the next time you were like a cheetah and the next time you were more like a deer (um, take that how you want it - i’m trying to say you were more normal paced)…..and now here i read you were doing HIIT! too funny.
oh, and just thinking of doing the box jumps makes my knees hurt! be careful!

you know, I said for like 4 weeks that I was going to try HIIT because I have heard a lot of good feedback from it but I am allergic to cardio! LOL Have a great weekend

I am done on Tuesday, and CANNOT WAIT! Congrats and have an amazingly fun, uber workout filled summer!

I almost crashed into a guy hopping on to a bosu ball (that was flat side down, so he was hopping on to the rounded side) yesterday. Ok, not really, I caught him out of the corner of my eye before I stepped into the danger zone. We both had the "OMG I almost killed you/I almost died" look though and laughed. It was funny. No animals were harmed ;)

wow congrats..It is a good feeling to be done.
Party and burn the books weekend… the clinical is just as hard to do as one gets no money to do it. HIIT sounds like it is fun for you. Couldnt use my legs if i wanted to. So you go girl…..

I am glad to have inspired!
Tuck jumps - just jump up arms extended, try to tough your knees to your hands.
Squat jumps - take a shoulder wide stance, squat down and jump as high (use your arms to loft), land lightly and squat back down…..sets of 20, 30 and 40 reps….does wonders for your butt!

Way to break through that plateau. Changing things up should energize you.

My favorite treadmill kind-of HIIT workout (usually about 30 minutes in and want to switch it up) - I go to my ‘crackhead runs’ playlist and run mellow when it hits the verse, speed up a bit when it goes to the hook, sprint when it comes to the chorus (or great guitar riff), and then drop back down when it hits the second verse… rinse, repeat for 2-3 songs. If I’m feeling super ambitious I increase the incline on the chorus :) Great artists to do this to include, but are not limited to, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, AC/DC, Fall Out Boy, Guns and Roses, etc.

tlc, Jen Hendershot in one of the old Oxygen Mag had a great plyomentric drill, I’m looking for my old copy but can’t find it :( …..you may want to google it. I;’ll keep looking for my old copy…..clc.

T - I think its the one I had her autograph, lol…I’ll find it, she is amazing…I did hills tonight…from 4% to 10% (3 min intervals at 6.0) it was tough, but give that one a try.
