I’m grounded!!!

My last semester at Iowa State and I have really been letting it show. I have that graduation itch. I’m unmotivated, really only interested in one class, have set low expectations for myself and boy did I have a reality check today.

Bombed a test. Quite possibley the worst test taken in my school career. Did I study? Does looking at my notes the day before the test count as studying? Then yes, I studied! Had the test been composed of questions about the Oscars, then maybe I would of had a chance!!

Question 1. Who was the best dressed?  Jennifer Garner, Cameron Diaz and George Clooney…mmmmmmmmmm

Question 2. Who looked the creepiest?  John Travolta.  I love JT (that’s what he likes me to call him), we go waayy back (ya, right)! But what was up with that hair??  uggghh.

Question 3. Who is the cremd de le cremd of all Oscar contendars, nominees and winners?  Jack Nicholson. Always happy, smiling, in a great mood, a real class act!

Damn her for not asking these questions!

My pad is falling apart in pieces…can’t seem to get the ooomph to be domestic. Double Bad

My trainer started writing in second workouts for me, last week. Didn’t do any of them.  It’s cold out! Its snowing! My car is freezing!  I can’t find my second shoe..  Triple Bad

Bombing that test is what I needed. A reality check. I am letting my guard down, it’s time for a come back. New rule.

No computer or TV until after 9 pm.

I’m grounded.

So, today was my first day of grounding and it went well. Came home from bombing my test, made new rule immediately. Worked on school project, did two loads of laundry, went for my second workout.

Feels good. I like my new rule!

Lator alligators, talk to you tomorrow…but it will be after 9!!!!

PHASE II DIET
MEAL 1 (pre-workout)
5 egg whites
1/2 c. oatmeal

1/4 c. blueberries

MEAL 2 (Post Workout)
Protein

14 almonds

MEAL 3
5 oz chicken

4 oz sweet potato

2 cups spinach

balsamic vinegar

MEAL  4

6 oz tuna

1 cup spinach

2 slices tomato

1 flatout bread

balsamic vinegar

MEAL 5

Protein

14 almonds

MEAL 6

4 oz chicken

2 c. veggies

TOTALS:  Kcal: 1743   CHO: 157 g     PRO: 173g     FAT: 37 g  Fiber:   29 g.
I had this beautiful table, nicely formatted, itemized with calories, carbs, fats, protein and fiber  from every food item, but I can’t convert it to my blog without everything being all katywhompus!! Of course, I have tried about 20 times taking about 1 hour! ggrrrrr.

Anywho

My phase II goal are 1700-1800 kcal/day with ratio of 40% CHO 40 % PRO 20% Fat and 25-30 g Fiber.

The Math
I’ve had quite a few people ask me how to to this… so here it is, using my goal for example.

1800 kcal x .40 (desired 40% CHO and PRO from calories) = 720 calories. Convert to grams:  720kcal x 1g/ 4 kcal (calories of CHO and PRO per gram)  = 180 grams CHO/PRO
1800 kcal x .20 (desired 20% Fat from calories)= 360 calories.  Convert to grams: 360 kcal/9 kcal = 40 grams FAT.

You can see I am close to my desired range!! Ex: CHO total 157g. x 4  = 628 calories from CHO. 628/1743 x 100 = 36% and so on.

So…old news to some. To others…hope you find as a useful tool!

Diet Chocolate Cherry Dr. Pepper

dr pepper.jpgI try to stay from the diet drinks, and the artificial sugars….but, I am drawn to a diet cola here and there. Lately it has been more ‘here’.

Anywho. I am LOVING this drink. It reminds me of having a chocolate coke with my mom when I was a little girl. Ya know…back when pop was a treat, not a substite for water!

Have you tried it???  Ladies, you will LOVE it!

14 weeks out

Weight: 121.2

Body Fat:  ~18-20%

Weight gain was successful. I did not meet my goal of a 10 lb. goal by the 15th. A little disappointing, but I did give it my best shot. It’s like running a race and coming in second when you really wanted first. Ya know the feeling??  Still doing good, but dealing with your own inner defeats?  Damn self-growth goals!! (literally) lol
The next couple of weeks I will stay around 1800 kcal. Clean my diet geared more toward competition mode. Limiting of dairy and staggering of grains. 40/40/20, still.

Training Split:

Monday: Back and Bi

Wednesday: Legs and shoulders + posing
Friday: Chest and Tris

Saturday: Back and Bi

(Rotating split)

Cardio: 6 days/week. Tuesday and Thursday 1 hour, split

Supplements:

Glutamine

BCAA

Creatine

Multi Vitamin

Calcium chews

Need a new creatine. I’m just using a GNC brand, but not really thinking I’m happy with it.  Any favorites?

Yup, this was my conversation only 22 days ago. When I said it…ya, I meant it!!
NOW??  Well now…I’m eating crow!
I’m not loving it so much. I am close to my goal. 120.8 out of 123. Close but I’m really feeling this little bit of extra weight!  Who knew???  I have grown a pant size and am really only comfortable in my sweats.  I feel like a sausage in my clothes….they are tight and too clingy. Ooooh the poor little skinny girl!!!  I can hear it now!!I’m not complaining…really.
Merely an observation on my path to Johnsonville.
