Outside the zone
Monday, January 28th, 2008‘We only grow as humans when we are outside our comfort zone.’
True.
I spent 10 years at a job I hated for so many reasons, only because I was afraid to change…to explore other opportunities and challenge myself. Afraid of failing, falling, disappointing. I was afraid to step out of my comfort zone.
Then what?
Well….I did it. I took that first step out of my box. Leary at first, looking both ways before crossing the street. One step, two steps, a little sprint…and I was across the street. I haven’t looked back and have since ran across avenues, skipped over alleys, and am still in pursuit of crossing bridges.
It is difficult pushing yourself, and for whatever reason the comforts we’ve grown accustomed to are justified to stay out of the boundaries of familiarization. Breaking out of familiarity is one of the hardest things I have done and one of the hardest that I continue to do. Now, instead of fear keeping me in my comfort zone, it is the pursuit of accomplishment that pushes me out.
Now, here we all are together outside of our comfort zones as one. Working, pursing, determined to grow.
What is pushing you out of your zone or what is keeping you in?
