Background info :
Whey Protein Powder for athletes:
One of the most popular sports supplements ever created is whey protein. Nothing helps muscle recovery like a healthy dose of amino acids. It’s not realistic to think we can carry around food to eat after a workout or sporting event. However, it is important to take in a quality protein after strenuous exercise. This is why whey protein supplements are so popular among athletes. Taking a protein shake with you to the gym or athletic field is a quick and easy way to ensure you can get the proper nutrients at the proper time.

Most weight lifters know that muscle does not grow while in the gym. We actually tear our muscle tissue down in the gym. How effectively our body repairs that muscle tissue depends on proper nutrition and supplementation. The most important time to take in a high quality whey protein supplement is within 40 minutes after a workout or strenuous activity. This is when we can take full advantage of protein synthesis and prime our bodies for recovery. It is also important to supply amino acids to our muscles every couple of hours. Again, this is where the convenience of whey protein supplements come in handy; they are great for supplying our muscles the amino acids needed for recovery between meals or prior to bed.

As an athlete, there are many ways to use a whey protein supplement to reach different fitness goals. Please feel free to contact us with questions regarding your protein supplementation.

Whey Protein Powder for women:
One of the most common questions among women when talking about whey protein supplements is in relation to gaining weight or growing big muscles. Actually, there is no better way to lose weight or tone your muscles than by properly using a whey protein supplement.

Protein boosts your metabolism, which is the rate at which your body burns food for energy. If you think about adding coal to a fire, the more coal you add, the hotter and faster the fire burns. This is what occurs when you add protein to your body; the more protein you consume, the faster your metabolism, and the more calories you burn.

Protein also promotes lean muscle mass. This doesn’t mean you will grow large muscles, but that muscles will become toned and sculpted. You must understand that our muscles are made up of proteins and by supplementing with a high quality whey isolate you will increase lean muscle tissue, recover from exercise quicker, and boost your metabolism.

Why a whey protein supplement?
It’s a good way to consume a good quality protein without consuming extra carbs and calories.
The convenience of being able to take a shake on the go is conducive to fast paced lifestyles.
Reduces snacking at home or hitting the vending machine in the office.
Is a great between meal snack.

Not doing the may 3 NPC Pitts show?

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

I am debating whether or not about the NPC PItts show in less than 3 weeks.  I am a little psyched out, and feeling like 10 lbs in 2 weeks is unrealistic.  I know i know..the water depletion and hardening the last week will lose like 6…i have figured that in..i still need to lose like 10 lbs!!  I seem to be carrying a lot of fat that is STUBBORN!!  Been around for 3 years now and seems happy to be on my midsection!  Having a baby really does change everything about your body, including it’s chemistry!  We’ll see about the show.  I am about 5 weeks out of the OCB Pitts show, so thta might be a bit more realistic.  Anyone used taraxatone before??? let me know how it worked for you, i am going to give it a test next week.

Here i am again

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Si here I am again about 7 weeks out from another show that i lost motivation to do weeks ago!!!  This is always a freak out time frame for me….enough time to make big changes, yet the show sounds SO close!

I am still slowly losing the lbs, but really feel like i have more than 10 to lose before the show in 7 weeks.  Not so good.  I am tired, and my family and i have all been sick for the past 2 weeks, making it hard on training, energy and TIME!!  Hopefully next week we’ll all be better and feel like normal.

I have been doing a great water cardio workout as a 2nd workout 2-3 days a week.  My legs were killing me from all of the punding from running etc, so i am getting in the pool and tearing it up.  It is a great change!

My lifting is cycling through heavy parted weeks and higher rep weeks, so seeing some change, staying strong, getting it all in.

Allergic to Aspirin

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

swollen face allergic to aspirinSo I tried to do a YCA stack yesterday.  Yohimbine HCL (2.5) caffeine pill and aspirin (325mg).  I found out that I am allergic to ASPIRIN the hard way!  About 45 min after taking, i was freaking swollen!  Like SLOTH from the Goonies… i will post a pic. I was annaphalaxis…and making arrangements for the ER when my Benadryls kicked in and i could feel the swelling stop/subside in one eye.  This lasted for about an hour and a hlf…of feeling sick.  The swelling is still lingering today. I am still a little swollen around my left eye, but no bruising. My face and eyes were so purple yesterday when it happened i though for sure i’d have a blacak eye! I never had that happen before, but i am allergic to morphine ( i had after my c section in the hospital) but i didnt have the same reaction, just very intense itching, that of course the hospital staff monitored and was in control of. This outbreak happened like all in 2 minutes…i was itching and then i could feel the hot swelling around one eye, by the time i got to the bathroom i had bubbles of welts all around my eyes..called people and looked again and my face was already twice normal size!!  I had hives allover my lega and tops of my hands and ears and neck. I am gonna go to the allergist and get an EpiPen…and i will always carry Benadryl in my purse from now on. Yikes! Be warned, the picture contains scary and disturbing images.  Viewr discretion is advised.

Another day….

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Well I am really trying to get my head into things right now.  I am in my 6th week of serious diet and training, and still have not seen that scale move enough!  I am looking hard, and defined, but powerlifter-ish.  Not that there is anything wrong with powerlifters…i just want the swollen look to go away soon!  lAst week was a great week for my cardio…it was the second week that i was doing 5-6 days 40-60 min a day.  So after this week, hopefully the metabolism will adjust and the weight will drop.  Just hard staying focused right now for some reason.  I think i need to switch gyms.

Word of the day is FATTISH

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Another week…feel like there was not much change/progress. This week kind of bummed me out.  Men clothes your eyes for a moment…I am menstrual, and irritated about everything.  I am swollen, craved and gave into chocolate cookie cake and 3 small pieces of Pizza Hut buffet pizza.  Bummer.  So at 11 weeks, my diet sucked a little, cardio went up, lifting was ok, just felt real tired and fattish.  My new word.   Not fetish, fattish.  I have had a fattish for chocolate. Haha  Anyway, I have posted new pix on Myspace and Bodyspace, hoping for some motivation.  From today on is serious diet and training.  No more woopsies.  I will be posting my diet and exercise soon…stay tuned.  Tonight I am too tired.
