Notes

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Fair workouts since last post.  Didn’t get the reps on the chest workout that I wanted.  Did get 2 at 335 and 10 at 275 on benches, that is down for me.  Inclines weren’t quite as bad, got 9 with 235 and 13 with 205.  Actually a much better workout on second chest day.  Went a little lighter (rep day).  Got a solid six with 315 and then a good burnout set of 11 reps at 275.  Inclined 250 for eight reps.  Leg workout last night.  Reps on leg presses down a couple on heaviest set.  But did go up on hacks.  Got a solid 12 reps with 300 lbs.  Doing a shoulder workout tonight.  Then actually going to be down for a few days to a minor surgery I’m  having tomorrow morning…

Last night’s workout

Great leg pump.  Pretty good strength.  Eighteen reps on leg press with 630 lbs.  Then went up to 270 on hack squats for 15 reps.  In case anyone wonders I don’t really squat anymore.  Back when I used to do more powerlifting type stuff I ended up injuring my back squatting heavy and ended up having four bulging disks that flair up when I start to go up in weight in squats.  Every so often I’ll get a wild hair and start doing them, but inevitably I end up paying for it in the long run.  So now my leg workout consists of presses/hack squats/extensions/lying leg curls/and seated leg curls.  Today is a chest day.  Hoping to get four reps with 335 on flats and twelve with 235 on inclines…

Still trying`

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Training getting a little better.  Still not losing any weight to speak of.  Not doing near enough cardio.  Work very busy so having to chose between lifting and cardio.  Lifting is taking first place.  Strength coming up a little.  Bicep injury seems to be getting better, so actually working on getting bench up a little again.  But going to take it very slow.  Also thinking about a little routine change again.

Update

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Slowly getting back into training.  Increasing cardio and using moderate weight with moderate reps.  Have got to lose some body weight and lower body fat…  Great pumps last few days, but hate not feeling the heavy weights.  Still using some pretty fair weight, and still above average strength I guess.  Some bad news at doctor yesterday.  Been having some numbness in left foot.  It’s beginning stage of diabetic neuropathy…  Been a diabetic for 37 years, so I guess it’s not a total surprise.  Nothing major at this point, but going to have to watch it.  It’s depressing, but at same point makes me want to really get back in shape.

Sucks…

My training that is.  Missed a lot of days recently due to work…  Once that happens I lose a lot of drive.  Was already in a slump due to injury.  Also frustrated cause not losing weight like I want to.  Plan to really drop amount of weight lifted, increase speed/intensity of workouts, and increase cardio if can ever get back in gym regularly.  I have to do it for my mental health, mood, physique, and definitely my health…
