frustrated!
Been lifting since Jan. on the 5×5 prog. Have gained ~6 lbs. Since then my weight has been stagnant I have been eating more ea. day. I have not weighed myself since May. I feel as though I am getting Bigger; when I look into the mirror I feel as though my lifting is in vain. Does/has anyone else felt this way?
I feel as though some days are better than others. Just like some parts of my body grow faster than others, why? Lastly, there are days in which I lose motivation, don’t think that lifting is for me; when I look into the mirror I feel or say otherwise.
Also, if anyone recommends a longer workout I can’t b/c of my busy schedule both during the summer; the fall semester. Should I just increase the reps or change routines altogether? HELP!!

Hey Richard…..would say this is a continuation of your former "blog" entitled "tired 2". Don’t know how long your workout routine is, but you’ve got to give it an intense hour or so, with minimal breaks, 4 to 5 times a week. Intensity is the key…often ‘heavier’ weights is not so important as more slooow controllable weight reps squeezing that "pump". I find that DB’s are best for that. Go back and read the responses to your former "blog"…they’ve got some good advice.
You’re a tall dude for 155 lbs - - that makes it tough to show muscle mass - it’s a keneisiology matter. I know you don’t take supplements, which means you’ve got to feed those muscles by hitting the protein hard with multiple meals a day. Weight regulation –it’s all about controlling insulin in your body.
Lastly, be patient patient patient! Push your "comfort zone" during your workouts, but don’t ignore it….learn to work outside it. When you make realistic and gradual demands on your body….the body WILL develop. Gradual demands bring the surest results.
Go get ‘em, Tiger!…..good luck…later…jeff "the bandit"

I like what he said. I think I’ll rearrange my work out a bit to add more intensity and one more lifting day. I am having the same problem as you. I lift, I eat, I don’t get bigger. What is it with us? Everyone else in the world wants to lose weight, and you and I can’t gain. I don’t see where they have a problem.
Anyway, try working away from the 5×5 at near max, go to 75% of max and do 3×10. Actually there is a study that proves 3×10 creates more Testosterone 15 min later than any other lift. Maybe that’s what’s causing your plateau. couldn’t hurt to try for a few weeks. See what happens.
And as always if you find the real secret to getting bigger, I am at the top of your list of people to tell, right? lol
Keep workin’

I felt the same way about my lifting progress when I would look in the mirror, because I could never see any change. I started my bodyspace here and filled in the body measurements. Now I see the results I wasn’t seeing before and it helps me to push harder everyday. I only lift for about 45 minutes five days a week, but my breaks between sets are only 10 seconds long. I hope that helps.
