Jeff DeLaney: My Personal Trainer/Dietician

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Jeffrey R. Delaney was born and raised in the small town of Kent, Ohio. Growing up Jeff always had an affinity towards health, nutrition, and athletics. He attended Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio where he majored in Exercise Science. Shortly thereafter, Jeff joined the United States Army Reserves to continue his schooling in the medical field and graduated at the top of his Respiratory Specialist Class at Fort Sam Houston.

Upon graduation Jeff became certified by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist and moved to sunny Florida to begin his career. At Charlotte Regional Medical Center Jeff became very proficient in the critical care aspect of Respiratory Care. For two years he worked solely in the ICU, Open Heart Recovery Unit, and the ER before deciding to move south to Fort Myers. Once in Fort Myers he continued his work as a Respiratory Therapist at Cape Coral Hospital.

All the while, Jeff was still following his desire to be involved in the field of exercise and nutrition. He began competing on a national level in bodybuilding and with his vast knowledge of nutrition he began providing nutrition guidance to other athletes.

In 2004 Jeff started a new profession in real estate sales, where he excelled as the 1 Buyers Agent in south Florida for Keller Williams Realty. Jeff continued with real estate over the next few years until late 2007. Still coaching clients and competitors on nutrition, Jeff realized his passion was to help people understand the art and science of nutrition and exercise. His main focus has been making an impact on the ever growing obesity epidemic that is taking a hold of Americans. From this, Jeff and great friend Alex Joseph began what is today, New Life Medical Weight Loss!

I Broke..

Friday, October 10th, 2008

So, Tuesday night, (10/7/08)…i cheated. This week is my 7th FAITHFUL week in Ketosis (not cheating when wasn’t supposed too) and it’s a killer! I broke down and had a cheat night when I wasn’t supposed to have one. I have cheat nights every Saturday for 3 hours, but it has to be my last meal of the day. I don’t know what got into me but I was just craving carbs like crazy!

You ALL are gonna hurl when I tell you all that I had to eat that night….I’m quite embarrassed to say…but here’ goes:

1. DiGiorno Pepperoni Personal Pizza
2. 1/3 Sweet Potato Pie WITH Whip Cream
3. Milk to wash down the pie..
4. THEN 2 pieces of Domino’s Pizza, Pepperoni & Mushrooms…
5. 3 Chocolate Splenda Cookies (Keebler Brand)

UGH! Was I feeling beside myself or what…I called my trainer/dietician, Jeff DeLaney and told him my sob story…of course he wasn’t going to scold me but he just said that if I make it a habit..I am just going to slow bodies process of achieving the results that I want BUT he said I deserved it and not to feel THAT bad b/c I’ve come this far and need to reward myself at times but ONLY on my correct cheat nights.

I’ve been in Keto, like I said above, for 7 weeks so, my body should have bounced back the next morning..I have been back on my diet and I feel like that night, I released alot of craving tension! lol! I was hittin hard in the gym on Wednesday and today.

By the way, HAVE to mention, I took the ON Vassive-N.O. 45min. before my workout today (Back & Bi’s), MAN! WOOOH, was I feelin’ Diesel! I had one of the trainers at The Omni Club work me out today and he killed it with the weights..I did Barbell Bent Over Rows, 75lbs., 8x. FOR ME, that was great! I didn’t complain, grunted twice but kept my mind on the result of what I wanted out of the work-out. I was surprised at myself to do that much weight being a lil person and all. lol! As my work-out proceeded, I mixed the ON Vassive EA8 in my water and drank that throughout my workout. It definitely kept me hydrated. I seriously felt pumped, energized and like I was Macho-Woman! I took on the heavy weights that the trainer put on and did them till the finish. I concluded my workout with 30 minutes of cardio and then a 2:1:1 Recovery Shake (Mango and 1tsp. of Glutamine Powder)..YUM!

I hope that with the continuance of these supplements, that I will get the cut, tone, build, lean look that I want to acheive..the FIGURE look…YES, I have decided to train for an NPC competition for next year sometime. Just have to find competitions and dates in Florida. I’d like to do a Muscle Mania comp..any suggestions? I thought about the Figure, Bikini and Model comps… :o ) We’ll see!
