My final thoughts…

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

-And now my TV won’t stop doing subtitles in Spanish?!?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s kind of neat when watching Dora the Explorer or Handy Manny with the kids, but after a while it gets to be a nuisance.

WHERE’S THE DAMN FACTORY REMOTE?!?

(I swear one of my kids must be trying to drive me nuts.)

-Warm milk.  Counting sheep.  Sledge hammer to the head.  I don’t care.  One way or another I am going to put an end to this day.

-Chest and calves tomorrow.

Q: How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if  a woodchuck could chuck wood?

A: A woodchuck could chuck just enough wood to fill my neverending box of Go Lean.

Same old Same old.

Except for the barely edible pizza I tried.

So I went back to my usual dinner shake.

BLEH!

Day off

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

-For the heck of it I shoveled the 1/4 inch of snow (light cardio exercise)

-Tried to get everyone out the door and into the vehicle by a certain time (exercise in futility)

-Traveling down the road a bit above speed limit (40), and get cut off by someone who likes to drive a bit below speed limit (30) (an exercise in patience, which I seem to lack when behind the wheel).

-Waiting in the self check out lane (12 items of less) while two people with cartloads of items take their time chatting it up (more patience exercises)

-Put gas in the tank…and on my shoes (exercise in stupidity).

I will not top off the gas in the tank

I will not top off the gas in the tank

I will not top off the gas in the tank

I will not top off the gas in the tank

-Next day off, I’m staying home and exercising.

My final thoughts…

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

-After triceps yesterday and biceps today, my arms are shot.

I wasn’t expecting any soreness of the quads after today’s workout, so the dull ache is a pleasant (albeit obnoxious) surprise.

-Tomorrow I eat.  And eat.  And eat.  I’m going to keep it clean except around dinner, where I’m thinking of scarfing some pizza.

I can’t call it a cheat since it will be worked into my daily intake.

And I’m not calling anything a cheat that isn’t sweet and doesn’t take my blood sugar levels to over three times the legal limit.

-Day off tomorrow.

Nothing new.  Nothing new.  No snacking, and anytime I get a craving, my body just shuts down and won’t let me near the kitchen.

Yesterday I was too lazy to make a new batch of bean-beef and rice burritos, but not today.

Unfortunately I didn’t have any ground beef.

(Sigh)

I thought about using chicken, but the idea of shredding up all that chicken was beat down by my resurgent lazy ass.

Yes, I have heard of people making burritos without any meat, but that just seems profane and blashpemous.

Oh well.  There’s always tomorrow.

In the meantime, tuna and sweet potato smash it is.

Quads and Biceps

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

I just didn’t have that mojo going for me today.  Of course, it’s squat day so I should have known, but I at least like to head down to the gym with high expectations so don’t end up psyching myself out of the game.

ATG Squats

Bar (4,20)

135 (10)

185 (5,5)

205 (5)

Bench Squats

225 (5,5)

ATG Squats

150 (10,10)

I tried warming up with the bar, but could only get three res.  I felt horrible; achy legs, sore lower back.  I had to spend 10 minutes on the bike before I felt good enough for squats.

Close Grip EZ Bar Curls

90 (10,9,9)

It was ugly at the end fighting for that last rep on the last two sets.

Dumbbell Curls

30 (10,10,10)

Incline Curls

25 (9,8)

20 (10,10)

Strength dropping…energy fading…must….not….give up.

Isolation Curls

15 (10,10,10)

Weights….low…but…arms hurting….must stop….talking….like Capt. Kirk.

I finished off with some bodyweight close grip pull ups and some bicep stretching.

20 minutes on the bike (140 BPM)

BLEH!!

My final thoughts…

Monday, January 29th, 2007

-Triceps and traps are feeling pretty good right now.  Nothing going on with the shoulders.  I had time to throw another exercise in for them, but I thought I’d been putting too many shoulder exercises in my past workouts and wanted to stay light.

-Nutrition was once again in the zone.

-Quads and biceps tomorrow.

Same old-same old.

For my post post workout meal, I was too lazy to make my batch of burritos, so I had to settle for something called Chicken Sausage that I found in the freezer.

What was neat about it was that two of them had 38 grams of protein.

It wasn’t that bad, but I definitely won’t be adding it to the mix of foods I eat.  Besides chicken and the usual fixings that make a sausage, it had chunks of green and red peppers in it (I hate vegetables of all kinds and go to great lengths to avoid them).

Oh well.  Whatever gets the job done.

Time for my shake.

Shoulders and Triceps and Traps and…

Monday, January 29th, 2007

I didn’t sleep well last night, but it doesn’t matter.  My kids were like silent ninja’s this morning, quietly going about their business, allowing me to grab a few hours of extra sleep.

Seated Dumbbell Shoulder Press

35 (15)

40 (12)

45 (10)

50 (8,8,8)

Rear Delt Laterals

20 (12,12,12,10)

10 (12,12,12)

Close Grip Bench Press and Reverse Grip Cable Pushdowns Superset

CG Bench Press

135 (12,10,10,10)

RG Cable Pushdowns

50 (10,9)

35 (12,12)

Bodyweight Dips

(11,10,9,9)

Hammer grip cable pressdowns

35 (12,12,12)

25 (15)

Barbell Shrugs

280 (5)

330 (5)

385 (8)

350 (8)

330 (5)

300 (15,15,15,12,10)

Grip strength was a bit better than before, though it still ended all of my heavy sets before I was ready.

Also, I hope I’m not the only slow-witted person in the world who forgets to take the weights off of one side of the bar and doesn’t realized it until he tries lifting the bar off the rack.

Not much strength, especially in cable work.  At this stage I’m not concerned with it.  If the strength isn’t there, I can still put in a good workout.

My final thoughts…

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

-Abs, obliques, and lower back are all feeling sufficiently worked out.

-I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without scarfing down some form of processed sugar.  I usually need at least a few twizzlers every four or five days to keep myself from biting someone’s head off.

Even though I still get the cravings, they’re not that bad and with the right snacks readily available, easy to quell.

For now.

-Must…Stop….Watching…Andy Lau movies (except Infernal Affairs)…Brain…Beginning…To..

MELT!!

-Shoulders, triceps and traps tomorrow.
