Did some tweaking to my cardio day diet plan today.  Added an apple to my first meal and upped the protein and dextrose to my cardio shake (also threw in a half serving of creatine).  I’ll get rid of the last serving of whey in my good night shake to make up for the extra whey in the morning.

I’m not sure if I’ll do this every day, but for today I’m happy.

Abs and Cardio

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

"A sailor went to sea (SEA SEA), to see what he could see (SEE SEE), and all that he could see (SEE SEE) was the bottom of the deep, blue sea!"

That little gem from the show HI-5 was stuck in my head on repeat this morning.  That usually is a time of great misery for me, but after 6 and a half hours of sweet, blissful, uninterrupted sleep, I could care less.

WOOHOO!
Anyhoo, it was a good, quick workout today.  Started off with hyperextensions.  Four sets of that  left my lower back with that good old familiar feeling.  Then it was situps, crunches and leg raises.  Quick and intense.

Cardio was a quick version of HIIT.  The focus was still on keeping my recovery pace quick and short (if I use the word "quick" one more time, slap me with a thesaurus).  I’m getting better; it was easier this time and I was able to go harder on my sprints.  Twenty minutes of that and I was spent.

My final thoughts…

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

-It’s been a while since I’ve had a back workout that’s left me sore the next day.  It was definitely great having that kind of workout today.  I’m already sore.

-Abs and cardio tomorrow.

Nutrition

Today I added some extra carbs (banana) and creatine (1 full tsp.) to my PWO.  Other than that everything is perfect- no missed meals, plenty of water, even a much needed nap.

How cool is that?

Back and Forearms

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Another long, sleepless night.  It wasn’t so bad at first (I had Pink Floyd stuck in my head), until I got the theme song to the Little Einsteins stuck in my head.  Then I was wishing for a baseball bat to the head.

Great back workout.  Started off with Barbell rows (hands supinated).  Really had my form going strong for me today.  Makes my workouts more efficient than just hoisting the weight around.  Four sets were supinated (12,10,9,8,) and three sets with hands pronated (8,8,10).  I just can’t say enough about how my back was feeling it more than usual today (great form).  I’d pat myself on the back, but I’m a bit sore.

Pull ups were next.  I alternated between wide grip (supinated) and hammer grip.  Not sure how many sets I did, my focus was on the magic rep number of 75.  Didn’t make it (64), but that’s okay.

Rack pulls were next.  My form was a bit off here.  It felt like my left side was dominating this time.  Worked my way through four sets (8,8,8,8) and moved onto dumbbell rows (10,8,8,6).  OW!

Three sets of weighted hangs, and then it was time for forearms.  Alternated between close grip wrist curls and wide grip wrist curls.  Four sets and then reverse wrist curls finished me off.

Followed that with two quick sets of weighted hangs, but my forearms were shot, so they weren’t very good.

Just a quick 10 min. cool down for cardio.

-Bah Humbug!  Just practicing my Christmas spirit.

-Good workout today.  I think I’ll spend the next few chest workouts in the 10 rep range.  I don’t want to spend too much time on lower reps and personal bests, it’s time to remember what I’m here for.

-Back tomorrow.  Probably going to reverse my grip on barbell rows and pull ups.  See how it feels.

Okay, currently I’m sitting here waiting for some magic fairy to come along and magically produce dinner for me and the family, since I’m feeling really tired and lazy.

Anytime now.

Other than that, my diet was spot on and I’m very, very hydrated.

Still waiting.

Please?

Chest and Calves

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

Good workout today for chest.  No personal bests, but that wasn’t necessary for a great workout.

Started off with barbell bench presses.  My strength was down last week, but was back up to speed this week.  Had a rep scheme of 12,10,8,6,4.  My form was great and I kept the weights under control at all times (no bouncing today).  Finished with two light sets of dumbbell presses (10,8).

Kept using the dumbbells for incline presses.  Notice better results in my upper chest area when I keep the rests short and the weights moderate, so I moved quickly through four sets (10,8,6,9).

Dips were up next.  Nothing unusual there or extraordinary, but still managed a good pump.  Finished off with incline flyes.  Good day.

Skipped the calves due to time constraints and instead went for 15 minutes of cardio.  I must  have overdid it because I thought I was going to hurl my PWO shake when I was done.  Oh well, I held it down and that was it.
