Dedication is….

May 29, 2009

Dedication is continuing through spin class with 45 minutes left to go NO ELECTRICITY, WHICH MEANS NO MUSIC, NO AIR, HOT, SWEAT, AND FUNK!!!  We did it and felt great about it.  That’s when you know you’re determined and movitated.  My goal is around the corner and nothing will or can stop me.  Are you dedicated? If you not you should be. WHAT’S STOPPING YOU?!!!!!

someone left the haterade open again….

March 13, 2009

So just when I thought I’d gotten all the negative folks in my life to STFU one reappears.  I posted a comment on my facebook about changing some things up and doing more reading. And what do you know this person posts a comment that says "give it up already". WOW, WHOA, AND REALLY!!??? I emailed them back to see if they really knew what I was referring to as I never really said what. And they replied your dieting and exercising.  So I replied "STFU…HATER". I’m mean really who needs and wants all the negativity when you’re trying to do something positive for and about yourself? If you dont like you then deal with it. But dont tell me what I need to do if it aint helping me.  That really got my day off to a bad start and now I’m ready to really step my game up and make folks STFU!!  Ok I’m over it now.

Have a good weekend and be extreme. change it up a little if need be.

Got to get it!

February 11, 2009

Well someone made a comment yesterday about me that has added even more fuel to my fire. It was not good to say the least and I’m not sure what they really meant by it but I didnt like it.  I like folks like that though as I love to prove them wrong. Make sure you’re using those nay sayers as motivation and not has a way for giving up. Reminds me of a song by rapper T.I. If you havent heard it check it out. It’s called Motivation. Keep pushing.

Here’s some more daily motivation. Apply it as neccessary.

"REACH BEYOND YOURSELF!

The higher you aim, the higher you will go. Push yourself a little bit past what you know you can do, and you’ll discover new skills and abilities.

If it seems that you don’t ever get much done, maybe it’s because you’re not giving yourself enough to do. Make your dreams and ambitions big enough to be positively compelling.

Be genuinely thankful for how far you’ve already come, but don’t rest on your previous accomplishments. Honor and appreciate those accomplishments by using them as a starting point for even greater success.

You are intelligent, adaptable, creative, flexible and effective at getting things done. Fulfill your destiny and satisfy your purpose by giving yourself plenty of valuable, worthwhile things to do.

Delight in discovering how much more you can accomplish. Thrill to the challenge of moving successfully through new, uncharted territory.

Continue to reach beyond yourself. Know the joy and confidence that come from growing ever stronger."

Daily Motivator. Had to share.

February 6, 2009

Just thought I’d share something I received again this morning. As I was getting on the elevator to leave work yesterday this guy behind me says "Wow that’s a serious workout bag. You must be really serious about exercise. I just lauged but the lady beside me replied "She really is. I ‘ve seen her workout." She then looks at me and says "You are really good and I mean good." By this time I’m cheesing so hard that I cant say anything but thank you. As I’m walking to my car all I could think was "WOW! Didnt know people were really watching me." With that said, this daily motivator is so appropriate. You  never know whose watching you. Put forth the effort, eat clean, use proper form. Show them how you can transform your body with hard work and dedication. Dont just speak about it. BE ABOUT IT! Hope you enjoy.

“MAKE YOURSELF HEARD” ”

Make progress instead of promises. You are not known by the promises you make, but rather by the value you create.

Actions do indeed speak louder than words. Every positive, productive action builds your credibility and polishes your reputation.

The way to be impressive is to do impressive and valuable things. Instead of wasting your time posing as a successful person, get busy with the real and persistent efforts that will truly make you successful.

True accomplishment is infinitely better than the mere appearance of accomplishment. The way to gain the sincere respect and admiration of others is to make positive and valuable things happen.

Those who shout loudly and yet do nothing will eventually be ignored or laughed at. Those who work quietly and consistently end up gaining the greatest influence.

Instead of just talking about it, step forward and do it. Without saying a word, you can make yourself heard with the quality of your actions.”– Ralph Marston

YAY!

February 4, 2009

I inspired yet another person. My coworker came to work Monday and told me how she got up Sat morning and worked out with her daughters. She just started working out with me last week. And man is she on it.  She does whatever I tell her to and she’s an awesome motivator.  Her eating habits are terrible but she informed me that she’s not only changing they way she eats but her families as well. I almost cried when I read her message.  I love people like her who can really see the good in diet and exercise and can honestly try to stick with it. No excuses, no complaining, just plain old hard work and dedication.  I’m sure measuring her wasitline helped kick some of that into high gear as well.

I’m on day three of atray87’s challenge of eating clean. So far so good. A few temptations here or there. But when I think about the after affects and how I’ll feel once I take that last bite I politely decline and head for my lunch bag.  I must say it again PREPARATION IS THE KEY! I missed my evening workout yesterday so that I could go home and do what I should have done Sunday instead of watching the Cardinals lose. I went home and cooked for the rest of the week. Alls well now and I’m back on it today and tonight.

Time to do some work. Be an inspiration today. Even if its to yourself.

Can you move please?

January 29, 2009

Can someone please explain to me why it takes some so long to do reps on one dang machine?  The other day I’m in the gym trying to get my leg workout over with so that I could get home out of the freezing cold.  I’m really trying to get to the leg press machine when I see this one guy near the machine stretching everything but his legs.  So I move on over to the next machine to see if he’s actually using it or just standing near it before I go over there.  Well it appears that he’s actually using it.  So I finish what I’m doing and move on to the next machine. All while watching the leg press machine to see when this guy will finish.  Well two machines later he’s still there stretching and what NOT!  So I move on to the next machine. this time when I’m done he looks like he’s gone so I head on over to the leg press to get it done and get moving.  Well low and behold as I walk up who do I see lying on the floor doing guess what? You got it stretching. By this time I’m like WTF!!! COME ON MAN MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OR GO STRETCH LATER. So I politely walk over to him and ask if he’s finish. He says no he still had about 2 more reps to go. Are you kidding me? It’s 30 min and 4 machines later.  So I say ok and walk away. I’m fed up and ready to go.  Of course now he’s done and comes to get me.  Thank goodness.

Do you do that? if so please explain cuz I dont get that.  if others are waiting why are you doing 100 reps on one machine?

Hopeful….

January 28, 2009

I’m sitting here hoping all the ice that came through last night will be gone by the time I get off work.  I already missed my Monday workout due to visitors coming into town. I made myself go yesterday in the freezing cold since they were so kind as to let us off of work an hour early.  There were about a handful of us at the gym. I looked around and thought to myself "now these are the truly dedicated folks."  Hopefully I can do the same this evening. If not I’ll suck it up and just go home and try to muster the energy to do a dvd.

ShanBL, I thought about you yesterday while working out. I saw this guy who appeared to either be a beginner or had just lost a lof of weight. His attire was funny. He had on a tight black "muscle" shirt (no muscles) and some cotton grey sweat like shorts. The shirt was tucked into the pants and they were slightly crooked around the waist. I felt bad for the guy but thought "hey at least he’s here".  We cant all be fashion models at the gym now can we. LOL

Be safe and stay warm everyone.  Be extreme today if the weather is fighting. I know I’m going to try.

You never know….

January 26, 2009

I’m the type of person that if I try something and I like it or I think it’s good for you, I’ll try to reel in as many people as I can.  Since I’ve been on my diet and exercise kick for so long I decided to try and get someone close and dear to me on for the ride. One because she badly  needs it and two because again its great for you.  Last summer I fiinally convinced her to join the gym but she hadnt taken the opportunity to actually go.  There was always some excuse as to why she couldnt or that she’d have to wait until….Well until finally came last week.  She went with me last Wednesday and she did pretty good considering she’s probably never really exercised a day in her life.  On Saturday she decided she’d like to give it another shot.  This time around she gets on the treadmill looks at me and simply says "Thank You". I replied "for what?".  She replied back "Just thank you. I actually feel really good".  This time she has tears running down her face and it dawned on me that she was thanking me for motivating her to get there. For virtually paying for her membership for the past 5 months although she’d never used it. And for finally giving her something that no one can take away from her.  She went on to say that she had to do this for not only herself but her two dauthers as well.  I told her its a start and just by showing them what you are suppose to do will motivate them enough.  I told her I had to get back to working out because by this time I’m fighting back my own tears (as I am right now) because for the past 4 years she’s watched me drag myself and my child to the gym. I thought to myself "my hard work is finally paying off". All that hint dropping, fussing, etc has finally got her going.  She can now understand why I’m such a "gym rat" and have to go. And why I’m eager to get my diet under control.  I am truly proud of her and myself for not giving up on her.  Because there were days where I wanted to cancel her membership and give it to someone who I thought would truly appreciate it.

All say all that to say NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER QUIT TRYING TO INSPIRE THAT FRIEND, FAMILY MEMBER, OR CO-WORKER.  Never quit doing what you love because you never know whose watching you. Who you’re inspiring to be a better person. We are truly examples and inspirations to others rather we know it or not.  Keep working out. Never give up.

Be blessed and a blessing!

“You’re a can do Kid”

January 23, 2009

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

This is another devotional I received a couple of weeks ago.  It also served as a reminder for me that I can do this and I will do this.  I’ve put off finally achieving my goal for this or that reason (having a baby, school, work, plain old laziness and no self discpline).  This year is my  year and I will reach  my ultimate goal.  No matter what it takes I will do this the right way and use that discpline and motivation I know I have.  My job is moving on Monday and I cant express to you the excitement I have because we’ll have a gym in the building and it’s absolutely FREE! No excuses as to why I cant get a workout in (not that I ever had any).  And I plan to drag a couple of co-workers along with me (they asked for. they have no idea).

We all have set backs but the key is to pick yourself back up and continue the race you started.  Dont give up. Dont say I ate that now I cant do this.  Use it as a lesson learned and keep going. Dont “start over on Monday” and dont quit.  Think about the message you’re sending to your children or loved ones when you fail at this. If you can be successful on your job, at school, or at your favorite hobby, then you can be successul with this too. We are all can do kids and we will do this!

Make it a great weekend!!!

“Running Prepared”

January 22, 2009

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1

I sign up for these daily women devotionals and here lately I’ve been receiving some really good ones that I can relate to my journey of being fit and healthy.  A few weeks back I got one titled "Running Prepared". I can not express to you the motivation I got just from reading that headline.  I immediately applied it to what I was doing. It reminded me of the importance of being prepared for the day. Not just for work but for my workouts as well. Let’s be honest most of us lay out our clothes the night before. We iron, we get the kids ready, and we think ahead to what tomorrow may hold in the workplace.  But how many of us really prepare for the day when it comes to our meals and what workouts we will do?  I’ve found myself spending more time in the kitchen at night preparing for the next day. But it’s so worth the time and effort when I’m getting ready to eat my 4 meals during work hours. It prevents me from cheating or running to the vending machine. Not to mention the money I’m saving.

As we continue on to being great people, we have to not only remember the hard work we put in at the gym but also the hard work we put in to watching what we eat.  Get prepared for your day and watch the difference you see in yourself and your wallet. Remember others are watching you rather you realize it or not. Be a good example and motivate the next person.  More importantly be prepared for those temptations that are certainly waiting for you.
