Sample Diet Plans
1. The single most important factor that’ll determine your body composition is calories. You have to consume fewer calories in a day than you burn that day if you want to lose weight.
2. Macronutrient ratios. How much protein, carbs, and fats you eat is important. I try to consume 50% of my total calories from protein, 40% from carbs, and 10% fats. I usually consume about 300 grams of protein, 200 grams of carbs, and the fat comes along with the meat I consume.
3. Nutrient timing. I try to consume the majority of my carbohydrates around my workouts. I try to spread my meals out over the day so I eat about 8 times a day. I eat more fiberous vegetables at night. Etc.
Thats 90% of it.
All diets work. Atkins, the Zone, etc. They all work if you stick with it. Be honest most people know how to get ripped, its the following through part of it that we lack discipline on.
Dieting is all about action and sticking to it … being consistent.

Hey Thickmass, I really appreciate that information. Looks like I am going to have to sit down and work out exactly what I should be eating and when. As you say it is obviously about discipline and consistency. Hope to get the results you have once I get it all worked out. Thanks again, Darren.

it’s ALL about discipline and consistency. You really can’t eat good one week and bad the next and so on…it’s dedication to yourself and life. but, it’s woth it in the long!

Good diet advice there bro … I wish I would have figured out a decade ago how important diet is to this game. Paging through Flex magazines and seeing all the workout routines and supplements one could easily assume that is all there is to it … just stuff your face! It will turn to muscle eventually if you are taking the right supps and doing the right movements, but In all reality - the big secret is: more than half of this is about what, when and how much a person eats.
When I figured out that you have to be just as focused in the kitchen as you are in the squat rack, I turned a major corner.
Stay focused and be relentless!
