So, So Workout…
June 27, 2008Just a quick rant regarding so, so workouts, where you dont surpass your targets from previous sessions, leaves such a bad taste in your mouth. I guess it fuels the fire for next time though!
1 Step Back, 3 steps forward!
Somethings Gotta Give
June 13, 2008After a solid week of chest & back training where I hit 1RM PR’s with decline benching 125KG (thats 275lbs for our american cousins out there) & pulling a 210Kg (462Lb) Deadlift, Leg day wasn’t the greatest.
Questioning my form, I decided to tape my descent, even though Ive previously felt my glutes/hams came fully into play in reversing the movement, the footage said otherwise.
Ive decided to stick with 120Kg x 15 & work my way back up to 3 plates for 12-15 reps.
Damn flat-feet!!!
The Good with the Bad.
February 21, 2008Today I had a ho-hum attitude approaching the gym. Equated in not killing the deadlifts. The rest was positive. See Below:
Deads:
100Kg x 10
140Kg x 15 (Couldnt get 20, got it before)
180Kg x 7 (Wanted 10, gotten 8 before)
Smith Shoulder Press:
55Kg x 15
75Kg x 10
81Kg x 6
85Kg x 3
BB Rows:
80Kg x 20
100Kg x 10
120Kg x 5
80Kg x 15
Rear Smith Shrugs:
135Kg x 20
135Kg x 9
Cardio?….Ah **** that shit, wasnt feeling it whatsoever!
Went home & devoured Minced Lamb, 2 x Sweet Potatoes, PButter, Magdaleina cakes/Jaffa cakes…Yummy!
That Dreaded Day
February 10, 2008Its amazing how a so, so workout can leave you wanting, and play on your mind until the next scheduled workout day arrives….you want to redeem yourself.
Today was Legs, and w/o going into specifics, wasnt the best. Conversely, when not particularly psyched about last weeks chest day, I ended up having the most productive session, gettin 100Kg x 8, 110Kg x 3.
Lets hope I can atleast consolidate that this next chest day (12/02.)
Hmmm, could be the universe restoring the natural balance back.
Chest Day…
February 5, 2008As I sit here @ work comtemplating my pending chest/arm workout tonite, I am filled with dread.
benching is not my strong suit, mainly due to an "unstable" shoulder/rotator cuff.
Here’s hoping I can best my previous effort of 2 weeks ago of 100 Kg x 7 Reps (people dont laugh!).
May well be worth extending it into a rest-pause set.
Going by my other lifts, (which I prefer) I am lower-body dominant. (Deadlift 182.5Kg x 6 Reps on my way to 200Kg; Squat 123.5Kg 2 sets x 20 Reps aiming for 3 plates by May.)
If I can also bench the same 100Kg for 15 Reps within that time frame, I’ll be pleased.
Lets CRUSH some Pecs!
Those Wheels keep on Rollin’….
February 3, 2008Another good leg workout in the can, as I continue to build up my poundage for 20 rep squats. Got 123.5Kg for 2 sets of 20….on my way to 140Kg (3 plates) by April.
Funny how a cheat meal the night before can spur you on to a killer workout!
Alphazone & the cheat meal
January 18, 2008Just wondering if I’m alone on this, but whenever I happen to have a suprisingly good workout, where I hit PR’s when not expecting to…I’m on a alltime high. So much so that, I almost feel like treating myself to a "well-earned" cheat feast.
Ofcourse given my current goals, I stop myself in my tracks and go home and eat my next allocated meal.
Just wondering if anyone else go thru the same deal. Hit me up!
Lean(ing) Back
January 16, 2008After letting myself go over the last couple of months I’m using my own photos on here as a source of inspiration and so have over the last 3 weeks jumped back onto minimal carbs and high fats, and damn are the cravings kicking in. It pays to stay strong though, because I know it will get me where I want to be. But damn, does it get difficult sometimes. Hence me cheating once thus far into the diet. I started back with a 33.5" waist and currently @ 32.5"…on my way back to 30.5", originally achieved through thru proper diet (high protein, high fats, minimal low GI fibrous carbs) training (anabolic accelerating compound movements) & occasional early morning H.I.I.T. NO THERMOGENICS….(just to see if I could without ‘em.)
Mission accomplished once, second time around should be easier right?
