I lost those five pounds, but I still feel like I could lean up my legs a bit. I don’t have many options for exercising my legs. My left will not be as defined as the right. It’s swollen, because the blood flow is restricted. Doing anything more than walking is very painful in my left calf. I meet with a vascular surgeon next Thursday to discuss my options.
I’m trying to be more healthy. I bought this book, “The False-Fat Diet”. I heard about it on the forum. DarkAngel recommended it, thanks. I was bloated for a month straight. I thought I just gained a bunch of fat. It turns out I have a sensitivity to wheat, possibly too dairy. I’m still working through all that. I feel so much better. I look better. I just wish I had money for new clothes. Most of my clothes are too big. I’m wearing clothes from high school and my early college clothes. That’s how long ago I was a size 6. Eights work too. I like having loose fitting clothes, but my tens are falling off. I need a job.
My ten year reunion is in October. I’m bummed about that I wish it was during the summer. October is right in the middle of my contest prep. My husband will be taking his Professional Engineering license exam in Califonia then too. It’s bound to be a stressful month. I am excited to see what some old high school chums are doing.

I’m still feeling a little lost. It’s weird not training for a contest. I took a month off from lifting. I just got back into it yesterday. It was so great. I just did shoulders:
military press 45lbs 4 sets 15
front raise 30lbs 4 sets 15-12
lateral raise red bands 4 sets 15
SLDL 67lbs 3 sets 15
abs
I’ve been sticking with my am cardio, except I just walk for 30 minutes. My left leg swells a lot if I run. I gained back 5 more pounds than I wanted to, so I plan on toning up a bit for swimsuit season. I’m just cutting wheat and dairy, which I need to anyway, I may have IBS, and keeping the fat intake low and complex carbs high. It’s so easy to lose weight. It’s hard for me to stay the same if I’m not running. That’s always been my way to maintain.

I just thought I would share this recipe. It’s from marthastewart.com. It’s a healthier version of the beloved Warldorf salad. I’ve seen it before with marshmellows and crap. I use fat free yogurt and omit the dill. Dill just not my fave. I usually make this salad for potlucks. Everyone raves about how great it is.
Ingredients
Makes 6 to 8 servings
· 1 cup pecan halves
· 1 one-pound fennel bulb, trimmed
· 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed l emon juice
· 1 Granny Smith apple
· 1 medium bunch seedless red grapes, halved (about 1 1/2 cups)
· 4 celery, strings removed, thinly sliced crosswise
· 6 to 8 escarole, leaves, stacked and cut crosswise into thin strips
· 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
· 1/4 cup plain yogurt
· 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
· Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees;. Spread pecans on a baking pan. Bake until golden and fragrant, 10 to 15 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Halve pecans; set aside.
2. Slice fennel bulb very thin using a mandoline or a sharp knife. Transfer to a large bowl; add 1 teaspoon lemon juice, and toss.
3. Cut apple, with skin on, into thin wedges; add to fennel, and toss to combine. Add grapes, celery, escarole, and half the dill to bowl. Toss to combine. Salad may be made to this point up to 4 hours ahead.
4. In a small bowl, combine remaining 2 tablespoons lemon juice, yogurt, olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle vinaigrette over the salad, using only as much as needed to lightly coat the salad. Transfer to a serving bowl; garnish with remaining dill and the pecans. Serve immediately.

My oncologist said I most likely have Phlebitis, as oppose to a recurring blood clot. The tests aren’t in yet, but it would be funny. I didn’t know what Phlebitis was. I have just heard of many comedic references to it. It’s just a fancy word that means inflammation of a vein. I found some info on it with wiki.
Phlebitis in popular culture
- Perhaps the most famous sufferer from phlebitis was the late United States president Richard Nixon.
- The condition was detailed in The Dharma Bums and other writings by Beat author Jack Kerouac, who suffered from the disease probably brought on by years of benzedrine and alcohol abuse.
- Truman Capote, famed author of In Cold Blood and many other works, suffered from phlebitis. Pablo Neruda, the famous poet, also suffered from it.
- In the Futurama episode A Head In The Polls, the head of Richard Nixon comments that his body was flabby, had pasty skin, and was riddled with phlebitis. He also concluded this made his body a “good Republican body”.
- In the Seinfeld episode The Shower Head Jerry’s Mother tells Jerry that Morty’s “Phlebitis is acting up.”
- In The Simpsons episode Bart Gets an F, the school nurse believes Bart has phlebitis.
- In All in the Family episode Too Good Edith, Edith has phlebitis.
- Peter Boyle’s character on Everybody Loves Raymond suffers from phlebitis. Or at least it is used as an excuse for getting out of undesirable family functions.
- In King Of The Hill, when Mr. Strickland took bible study class in the pool with Luanne, Hank noted that it was “good for his phlebitis”.
- In the M*A*S*H episode “The Young and the Restless”, Colonel Potter suffers through a bout of phlebitis, aggravated by his initial refusal to acknowledge his condition.
- During the shooting of Sense and Sensibility (1995), actress Kate Winslet, who played the role of Marianne Dashwood, suffered from phlebitis.
- Mario Lanza suffered from phlebitis, and his cause of death in 1959 was from a blood clot going from his leg to his heart.
Needless, to say I am in better spirits, and annoying the hell out of my friends and family, constantly claiming that my Phlebitis is "acting up". Unfortunately, I will not be taking any narcs this time. I am on Naproxy Sodium–prescription Aleve. I also may have surgery to have my Phlebitis removed. Yea, I’ll have two skinny legs instead of one. Of course I must go now…My Phlebitis is acting up.
