I’ve been lazy

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

This week and the next are going to suck.  I have a couple of medical procedures coming up.  I was on a clear liquid diet all Monday and half of Tuesday.  I’m also not suppose to workout.  Then I do it again next week.  I’m trying not to let all of this distract me from my focus.  It’s hard enough trying to keep up the diet and exercise schedule during the holidays.

I lifted heavy today.  I did legs.  I couldn’t  walk afterwards.  I plan on doing upper body tomorrow then taking a rest day and running the day after.  I had shin splints on Sunday.  I iced my shins, and they felt better ,but I still want to give them a break.  I find if I don’t lay off on the running when I get shin splints,  I will have to take a month off. I need new shoes.  THat was just laziness.  If you toss your old shoes out after 500 miles you probably won’t have shin splints. Duh…

Today I ate

oatmeal and egg whites

protein bar and yogurt

chili and cottage cheese

grilled chicken 4oz and mixed greens

2 mock chicken enchiladas

protein shake and a bowl of kashi go lean crunch cereal

I feel so good.  It was about 2050 cal 46% protein, 34% carb, 18% fat.  I’ll work on less fat, but I am glad I got all of those calories in.  It’s hard for me to eat more than 1200 calories. I’ve been dieting for the past year.  I have so much more energy.  I still fell asleep after lifting.  I did shoulders and biceps supersets today.  That hurt.

My new workout plan

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

I like to change my workout plan up when I get weak or start skipping workouts.

Now

Monday 30 min run abs 4 sets 25 reps 3 exercises(upper abs, lower abs, and obliques)

Tues 30 min run abs

Wed shoulders and arms

military press

shoulder press

side delt raise

preacher curls

reverse curl

concentration curls

Thurs 30 min run abs

Fri 30 min run abs

Saturday legs

squats

lunges

leg extention

leg curl

standing calf raise

seated calf raise

Sunday yoga and chest and back

bench

incline bench

flys

bent overrow

upright row

lawnmowers

I know I should have a rest day where I don’t workout at all.   I think this will be better than trying to run on the same days I lift.  I just don’t have the energy.

Typical diet during week

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Please help me out by critiqueing my diet.

Meal 1  whole egg 4 egg whites 1/2 cup of oatmeal

Meal 2 Kashi go lean bar(190cal,5 fat,28 carb,12protein)

or 1/2 cup oatmeal with scoop of protein powder

Meal 3 3-4oz of turkey or chicken  or 6oz tuna on 2cups of mixed greens

Meal 4 protein shake and apple

or 4oz activa yogurt and 1cup cottage cheese

Meal 5 4-8 oz lean meat, chicken or fish with a complex carb(rice, red potato,   sweetpotato, black beans or green stuff)

Meal 6 protein shake or kashi go lean crunch cereal or nothing

I try to remember to eat the extra meal, because I don’t get enough calories.  I usually forget.  I’m so used to ignoring when I’m hungry.  I don’t eat wheat.  The gluten doesn’t agree with my system.

Upper ab arch

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

I was so excited to notice that I am getting my upper ab definition.  Right under my ribs the arch for the upper abs is in.  I was going to put a picture up, but my kids did something with my usb adapter plug for my camera.

I’ve been eating a lot more, clean stuff of course.  I think it’s working better for me.  My brothers were right.  I had too much of a calorie deficit.  The fat is falling off now.  I can’t believe what a change I had this week.

Blog Entry

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

So this is my eighth week since I was cleared to workout by my doctor.  I had a blod clot in May due to birth control.  For eight weeks I’ve been eating clean during the week, not so clean on the weekend, and working out like a fiend.  I’m not getting the results I expect.  I’ve lost maybe 4-6 pounds.  My brothers’ inlaw are both natural bodybuilders, they thought I needed to get more calories.   Mike suggested 1500, Bobby thought 2000.  I was eating about 1300, 40/40/20.  I’ve been eating 1500 calories for the past couple of weeks. I feel tired, weak, and unmotivated.  I want to try some natural supplements.  Anyone have any suggestions for me.

Holidays

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

I am looking forward to the holidays, but not the family holiday meals.  My inlaws have a way of making me feel bad for refusing to eat dessert or any food laden with butter and fat.  It’s hard "dieting" at family functions and parties.  Why is there such a huge focus on food?  Why is there so much judgement for choosing to eat healthy?  I do occassionally blow my diet and opt for a pastry or alcohol.  I get comments like are," you going off your diet," or "you’ll have to run a few miles for that one," and so on.  As if it gives someone pleasure to know I have failed in some way.  Of course cheat meals are an important part of dieting and I haven’t failed.  It just pisses me off.  I don’t track other peoples dieting, weight loss, or weight gain.  Why are they tracking mine?
