Pant Size

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Okay….I know it is usually a "girl" thing, to talk about pant sixe but I have been wearing pants with a 34 waist since high school.  I have a pair of 36 pants, but they are way too loose.  The 34s seem tight though.

Leg day in the gym today.  I am one of the odd dudes that wear cargo shorts in the gym.  I like them.  They have pockets for my iphone and I can listen to music..  I can also keep my card that gets me in the place in the other pocket.

Anyways….leg day!  Not that you can tell by my chicken legs, but I love leg day.  I have to be careful on squats with prior knee surgeries, but I still do them.  Our squat rack is probably twelve feet from the mirror.  I was squatting 225 at as I lower my butt slowly and started to raise back up. when something popped against the mirror.  My pants all of sudden became loose and I had to spread my knees the best I could with weight on my shoulders to keep my shorts from falling down.  Apparently, a button popped off my shorts.

I managed to get the weight off and tied a string on my shorts to keep them on.  I found the button, but the middle part of it was still sewed to my shorts and it had completely broken.

Obviously need to watch the diet and up the cardio.

That Time again!

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Every year from January to April I enter this body transformation contest.  I practically kill myself to win, but always seem to come in second.  It might not surprise anyone that each year I am about a year older.  I always say I am not going to do the contest again.

Throughout the summer I workout about three times a week and the diet goes way down hill as I focus on fishing and other addictions.  Now it is fall again.  I have decided to enter the contest, "one more time."

With that in mind….the ickiest part is November, when I cut the cardio way down, lower the reps and up the poundage.  I prefer the harder leaner look.

I am stocking up on the protein powder, Scivation Xtend and the beta-alanine for the contest.  I have two good team members (I hope), so this year going for first place!

Here we go again…..

Gym Buddy

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I took the plunge and traded in for an Iphone a few months back.  It has applications for everything, so I searched for one that would work as a workout log.

I found Gymbuddy.  I think it cost me $2.99.  You can put your workouts and exercises in the way you want to.  It has a timer, if you want that, which times between sets.  It also has a 1 rep max estimation based on the amount of weight and reps you were doing.  I really think this works as well or better than a notebook.  It gives summaries of how often you work out, the amount of weight, rep and sets you do and more.  You can still listen to your tunes while working out.

If you are an Iphone user and like to log your workouts, this might be something you are interested in.
