Training for the Great Aloha Run

November 25, 2009

Today I got my baseline for the run. I went to the track this morning and jogged/walked  1.5 miles. I actually ran a half mile so I could multiply it and see my approximated finish time. I ran/walk .5 miles in 6 minutes and 30 seconds. So multiply that by 17 ( since its an 8.15 course and I’ve never done it before so I’ll probably be a little slow) and I got 107.1 which is approximately an hour and 40 minutes. Now I hope that I will be able to get a better time than that because after going over the results from last year, I saw a lot of people completed it in like 50 minutes and under. But I am not discouraging myself about my time today because I am not a runner at all. I have found a 10k training program for beginners (like straight off the couch beginners) so I am going to use this in addition to the training program they have that starts Dec. 20th. My goal is to finish. That’s it. I am not trying to be the fastest or anything, I just want to finish. And not to be dead last. And to hopefully do better then 1 hour and 45 minutes. Thats not too much to ask, right?

UGH!

October 27, 2009

I know that old saying, if at first you don’t succeed, try try again. BUT….I am back up to 171. My husband has been back from Iraq about a month now and I completely lost control. Eating out often and a lot of bad foods. Being lazy and not going back to the gym. I made my bed and now I must lie in it is another addage that comes to mind. I feel like I want to just give up but you can’t do that right? Why does it seem so difficult to do this? I know that nothing really worth wanting is easy in aquirring. I am going to have just start over and see how it goes.

30 Day Challenge Day 6

September 6, 2009

I have had an interesting past few days.  First my car was broken into.  And I got word that my husband might be home from Iraq sooner than I thought. So I have been pulled in several different directions and my challenge had unfortunately taken a back burner. Instead of my usual high intensity plan, I had to settle for unconventional workouts. That included working on my husbands car, changing out the battery and detailing it. I also bought a new jogging stroller for the baby so I was able to take a few walks. Its better than nothiing but I still feel a bit down about it. I am not gonna beat myself up though because I got through it andI lost .5 lbs this week. I also finished my finals a day early and got my car situation fixed. So I say all that to say, when life gets in the way just try to do the best you an and you will have no regrets. :) Lets see what next week brings!

30 Day Challenge Day 4

September 4, 2009

Today was my first off day before the next three days of hell…I mean work outs. I did manage to break a mental sweat though. I have finals this week so my day off was filled with tests and papers due. I ate well and didn’t go overboard with anything although I did have a few sips of a caramel machiatto from starbucks. I am paying for it now though because my stomach is talking to me and not in a pleased manner. Oh well. I will be ready for day 4.

30 Day Challenge Day 3

September 3, 2009

I woke up today feeling SORE! I could barely lift my arms. I had a lot of errands to run so I didn’t do my workout in the  morning. My mistake. By 730 I still hadn’t worked out. I really wanted to just….not work out but I promised myself that THIS time I wouldn’t quit. So here’s my workout. It wasn’t as strenuous as my previous days but I did it and I am proud of myself.

5 mins of crunches (80 crunches)

1 min rest

5 mins of push ups (55)

1 min rest

5 mins of overhead squats with a long handled broom (73)

I know those numbers are pitiful but I will improve them.

30 Day Challenge- Day 2

September 1, 2009

Today’s workout was a rough one for me. I went to my crossfit gym where Coach Kimo let us know that for the entire month of September we were going to follow whatever routine was on crossfit.com for that day.  Here’s today’s workout:

"Run Fran Run"

For Time

800M Run

21 Thrusters

21 Pullups

800M Run

15 Thrusters

15 Pullups

650 Run

9 Thrusters

9 Pull ups

My time: 24:37*

* I changed it a bit because for the last 650 I rowed instead of run.

I weighed myself this morning. I knew I shouldn’ have but I was so curious and it was really tempting. Obviously there wasn’t much change. But I am determined not to do it again until next Monday. Eating wise I did okay yesterday. I am going to need to eat more veggies in the future but I will get to that. Day 2 is almost done and I am looking forward to Day 3. Who’s with me???

Just want to add that I normal stop at burger king and get something for dinner on Tuesdays and Thursday since my son has Tae Kwon Do on those nights but today I  made baked chicken and green beans and stuffing. The kids had the stuffing and I just ate the grean beans and chicken. Go me! SO stoked about it!!!

One Month Challenge, Day 1

August 31, 2009

Workout:

5 mins of jumprope as a warm up

25 mins Ms.fit Kettle bell Basix DVD w/ 6kg kettle bell

This morning I woke up already wanting to not workout or eat right. But I said to myself if I can’t commit for 30 days, then I am worse off than I thought.  So I did it, and it wasn’t like a lazy version either. I did the 5 mins of jump rope as a warm up. I was trying to accomplish some double unders but I think I have the wrong type of rope. So no double unders were done but I still worked up a sweat. Then I continued on and did my kettle bell routine and I was done and happy! Tomorrow will be crossfit day. My starting weight is 170 lbs. I’ll weigh in again next Monday.

More Info On One Month Challenge

August 31, 2009

To further keep myself accountable, I wanted to detail all the information on my  one month challenge. I plan on doing 3 days on, 1 day off. I know this may not seem that difficult but consistancy and I have a hard time getting along. Also I want to eat between 1600-1800 cals a day with a 30% protein, 40% carbs, 30% fat breakdown.  I will use fitday.com to log in all my food and water intake. As for water, I am going to aim for 10 cups a day. Today is day one and I am so excited! Pictures will go up later today.

New One Month Challenge!

August 30, 2009

So I decided to start a one month challenge with myself to lose these last 5 lbs in one month. I know I want to lose more than 5 lbs but I have decided to just take 5lbs at a time. I am already back at my pre-pregnancy weight but am still soft in some areas (like my abs, booty and thighs). I’m gonna try to blog as much as possible to keep myself accountable. Join me if you like :)
