Good lord I’m beat

I did an hour of slow cardio and that drained me.  It was so boring, good thing the TV was on.  Hamstrings and calves where done, I just got home and took a warm bath to sooth them.  I met a PT today and we have a date on Thursday morning and she is going to give me a beat down.  That is going to be fun.  I want her to challenge me and to push me and I think she is the one to do it.

This morning I saw a young 15 year old boy working on the db.  His form was really bad, and the weights was way to heavy for him.  I watched him for a min, thinking about correcting him.  Then I notice his dad watching me, watching him.  Still thinking about it, I wanted to approach the dad and ask him if that was OK.  But I decided not to, from the looks of him it would not have been a good idea.

 In other news, 1 hour of cardio about 25 mins of abs.  I notice some people watching me do a reverse crunch.  I know my form was right, maybe its cause they never seen a big girl do them.  Who knows, I have a lot strength in my abs, it just does not show yet do to the layers of belly fat.

I have a question that needs an answer..

When I got home from the gym, hubby asked me why do I take Whey.  I told him cause my muscles are hungry and they need to be fed.  He told me I don’t need to take it and thinks I have no idea what I’m doing.

Question is:  Do I need to take Whey or any kind of protein AFTER a work out?

Glutes, Quads, Abs, cardio

Yup I did all of those things.  Cardio was only 6 mins to warm up, next week it will be an hour.  Glutes went well, I love the cable and my ass was on fire!!   Quads is a work in progress, I am limited to the things I can do until my right leg catches up with the left.  I worked very hard on it, I try the leg extension and I can not lift the 15lb weight still.  I use the leg press and just do one legged press until I have the strength again to do the extension.  Sucks ass.  Abs went extremely well, I was doing a reverse ab on the bench.  Earlier this week I could barley get my but off the bench.  Now not only do I have my ass in the air, but the only on the bench was my head and shoulder.  SWEET!!!!!  I did 4 sets of 10 and call it a day.

 Tomorrow cardio and abs

Abs, shoulders, back

I love to work out first thing in the morning.  I love the fact that I have most of the equipment to myself.  When I discover I can do a reverse ab crunch with my legs straight up.  I was so happy I had to do it again and again, that would be 3 sets of 10.  My shoulders I did OK with them, my time is still limited until break is over, but at least I did them.  Back I need help on.  I have some idea on how to do my back, but I feel its still very week.  Tomorrow legs and abs

Legs and abs

"I got leggs and I’m trying to use them"  my parody on ZZtop.  My time is limited this week.  I love doing an hour of cardio! But for now just a 7 min warm up.  Today I used hubbies Black Powder and love the results, I love the fact I can keep going, and when I get tired, I can still go.  I worked on my abs hard this morning, and even did a reverse crunch.  I love the feeling I got from that, I have to add that one to the routine.  I am still rehabbing my legs at 3 times a week.  This is not normal for me, leg day has all ways been on a Monday.  But until my DR clears me again I am force to do it 3 times per week.  It is a slight inconvenience since I want to do other things on different day.  I have to compromise and move things around.  I ran out of Whey this week and can’t buy any till this weekend.  I have forced myself to eat 1 egg yolk and 2 egg whites.  I hate eating eggs, it smells bad and let alone does not look good, even scrambled.  Tomorrow will be shoulders, chest, back, and abs again.

Bi’s and tri’s and “the discussion”

After talking with the hubby over the weekend, he told me to work out in the morning when he gets home with our son from the gym.  I don’t work out or never had around 7 am.  But because of spring break I have to bite the bullet.  I was curious about his Black Powder and wanted to try it out.  This stuff is great, I kept going and going like a little rabbit.  I did an hour work on bi’s and tri’s before I hit failure.  I even had a hard time putting on my coat to leave, I felt so weak.

Hubby looks at me and asked me what I did.  I said bi’s and tri’s, Mondays are legs days for me, but since I did that on Saturday I just did my arms.  He tells me I’m going about it all wrong.  Say what?  He tells me I am bulking up, and there is no need to work on my legs.  I beg a differ, I just had knee surgery and I need to work on my legs.  I showed him, the difference in leg size thus why I always work on my legs.  He said all I need to do is go the on the treadmill or the elliptical to work on my legs.  And that all that weight lifting is going make me bulk up.  I told him I am not bulking up, I do 4-5 sets with 12-15 reps at moderate weight, nothing heavy.  He seems to think I will get big with this, I don’t think so.  I explain to him to bulk up would be lower sets lower reps and heavy weights.  Sigh. 

 Someone please tell me am I doing is the right thing or do I have to change it up.

AHHH the smell

OK not really the smell I wanted, but it was the gym.  My first time back in 6 weeks, and it has changed.  They have updated the equipment and added some.  I felt like a kid in the candy store, what to do, what to do.  I saw my therapist on Wednesday and told me I can do every thing except leg extensions.  My right quad is so week its no joke.  If I was to go on the leg extension machine the lightest weight is 15 lbs, I can barely do 8 pounds on my right leg.  Its a dam shame, I went from 45 pounds down to 8!  No big deal just work on it 3 times a week like he said and I will get it back.  The Dr wants me back in 6 weeks for a check up to see how I am doing on my own.  If he is not happy with what I have done, back in rehab I go. 

 Today I did legs, abs and 50 mins of cardio, just walking slowly and taking my time.  I will try to go during my kids spring break in the evening if all possible.  If not I will wait till they are back in school to work out again.

Nothing new

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Next week I will be release from my doctors care and free to do what ever I want.  I am looking forward to hitting the gym again and make some more progress.  Rehab is going well, I have learned how to squat, and among other things learn how to do a leg extension.  You will be surprise how much you lose in a short time.  I remember a week after surgery, I could not do a leg lift and I notice my leg was shrinking.  Now, I am working on walking up and down the stairs and that can be tough.  Until then!
