Recovering from Ankle Injury

I’ve been out of the gym for about a month now and I finally got back in yesterday and today.  I did some hardcore upper body training yesterday and lower body training today.

I figured that I might as well start back with doing full body routines to get my body conditioned into working out again.  Then I will get back on a push/pull/legs split.  I’m looking forward to getting back into my normal routine again.

You never know how bad working out affects your life until you stay out of the gym for a while.  Maybe it’s a mental addiction and without it I feel bad.  Maybe it’s a way for me to relieve stress so that I am always happy.  Maybe it keeps me feeling great about myself.  But one thing is for sure, after being out for so long I had been falling into a pit of depression and it’s been really effecting me.  After getting back in the gym though I feel so much better.  It’s probably the soreness that reminds me of an accomplishment the following days.

Who knows…just glad to be back!

Back/Forearms Workout

Decided to bring it back to old school today with the good ole back and forearms workout.  It has been a long time since I have worked out my forearms, and I definitely felt it.  I miss the forearm pump…

Wide Grip Pull-Up - 4×8

Narrow Grip Pull-Up - 2×8

Lat Pull-Down - 160 4×8

Barbell Bent Over Row - 185 4×8

T-Bar Row - 90 3×8

Forearm Curls / Reverse Curls superset - 4×10

Chest Workout

April 3, 2008

Today was a nice chest workout, I am noticing some improvement in my strength as well as overall chest development.  I’d like to see my upper chest develop more but that will come in due time.

Bench Press BB Flat - 225 3×8

DB Bench Flat - 80 3×8

Incline Barbell Bench Press - 155 4×8

Fly Machine - 4×8

I had a nice pump going on and it felt nice.  The rest periods were pretty short, with about 45 secs between each set (which is short to me at least).

Cardio

April 2, 2008

Yah, sometimes cardio can be hell, but today I decided to do it up.  1 hour walking on the treadmill on a 17.0 incline.  What did that total?  A nice 1000 calories.  I ate a piece of carrot cake afterwards, but dammit it was worth it.  Time to get cut for the summer, lets see how things come together.
