Back in action!

November 6, 2009

Well, my back is better and I’ve begun to hit my routines again. Lost a few pounds. (I hate being ecto!)

September 9, 2009

I’m still holding at 147#  Looks like I’ve hit another plateau and working to switch up my routines. I had been trying heavier weights, but it seemed to trigger mild muscle spasms in my neck and right shoulder, so I’m backing off of it for now. If I can’t increase the weight, I’ll just stop at the current weights being used and go with more reps and sets and see if that works.

Update July 28, 2009

July 28, 2009

Okay, so I’m holding at 145# consistently, although I look bigger in the mirror now than I did previously a few weeks ago when I was breaking 150# The extra weight may have just been water since I had just started creatine at the time.  I’ve started slowly on iron weights and machines. No problems or complaints yet from my DDD condition. Previously, iron weights would exacerbate my condition and trigger painful spasms in my neck and shoulder. Haven’t experienced any spasms yet. Working a full body weight conditioning program prior to easing back into heavy iron weights may have been the key.

24 Hour Fitness

July 14, 2009

Picked up a membership last week and have been going every other day. Staring out with the machines and dumbells first. So far, so good.
I dropped from 150 down to 145 again, but that was to be expected since I pretty much doubled my workout frequency from a 2 day/week schedule to 4 days a week.

Been getting some really good pumps and that delicious tight, achy feeling in my muscles afterwards.

Trying the traditional ‘low reps, heavy weight sets until muscle failure’ approach.
Performing each movement slowly and controlled, paying attention to proper form.
Alternating a different set of muscle groups per session with 24 hours rest in between sessions.

What’s Next?

July 10, 2009

Okay, so I managed to reach my goal of 150 lbs. (up from 130 lbs.) using just body weight exercises and minimal supps. It seems to be holding steady at this point. Usually I drop in weight pretty fast if I don’t keep up with it. Need to find me another goal. Gonna try for another 10 lbs., but gonna start out slow on weights since the increased exercise hasn’t affected my DDD condition thus far. I think I’ve reached as far as I can go using just body weight exercises and calisthenics.
